10 years ago, the Civilization Chronicles set was released and it had the first 4 Civilization games included. I'd like to get a copy of those early Civ games and I don't believe they'll be coming here anytime soon. I know you can play them in a browser or download them from various sites, but I want a legal copy I can use. Does anyone know if those games will work on Windows 10 without installing them in a VM?

For Civilization IV, it won't run on Windows 10 because secdrv is missing. Maybe a no-CD crack would fix that *shrugs*

I can live with it if III and/or IV don't work because I can get them legally in other places but what I really want is to have I and II work in Windows 10.
Civilization 1 works with DosBox. Civilization 2 on the other hand is kind of problematic, as the original version does not work with 64bit operating systems. But there is a for that. Regarding [url=http://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/win-7-and-xp-64-bit-civ-2-mge-and-tot-issues-fix-inside.193215/page-10#post-14085213]one posting in that thread someone got it running with windows 10, but then there can still be other minor problems, as example the videos because of missing indeo video drivers.

Btw: Another solution I use in this case: Win 3.11 running in Dosbox. Works great for Civ 2, but then you need of course an installation of Win 3.11 to do that.

Only if you do not have the second expansion pack (Beyond the sword). The final Bts patch removed the DVD-check.
Chronicles got released 2006, beyond the Sword 2007.

Would an installation of Windows 98 in DosBox work for Civ 2? I still have my copy of Windows 98 handy, so I could install that but I don't have Win 3.11 anywhere.

Not that I know. There is a way to install Win95 in DosBox, but that's really tricky. Then it's maybe better and much easier to use a virtual machine.
