Frank Zappa has a great song about human stupidity I've been listening to a lot lately. The song mostly deals with with warfare and religion but I think it applies as well to the destructive stupidity that drives party politics. Even though I'm a humanist at heart it is sometimes very satisfying with a misanthropic song that calls out how stupid we really are.

I have news for all of you - "cancel culture" has ALWAYS existed.

If you call your co-worker [modded], you're going to get fucking fired. If you take a girl out, she gets drunk and passes out on your couch and you bang her, you're going to get treated like the sex perp rapist you are. If you're an elementary school teacher and you make the 6 o'clock news for a DUI arrest, you're going to lose your job before you ever make it to trial.

The only difference is now we have a generation of people so shameless, entilted and unaccountable that they want no consequences for their shitty behavior.

I have news for you cancel Culture is different then what you are discribing.. what you are discribing are actually justifiable to be against someone.. Cancel culture though has went so far as to be against people for such a small thing from decades ago or even just edgy jokes from even 10 years ago from getting into collages or even get them keep from getting jobs anywhere ... the problem is far too many use it in a witch hunt fashion .. rather then actually on those who need it used on them .. ruining peoples lives for no reason. . Sure afew cases are justifiable but most are not

Nothing of what you described seem to have happened though, she was drunk indeed but he never banged her not to mention many of her messages have been dug up which directly contradict most of what she has accused him off and on top of that she has described the supposed time where it happened in multiple different ways since that day, some of which again contradict her previous stories.

In the end none of this matters because the court is supposed to resolve cases like this in a fair civilised way before you ruin someones reputation to make sure the person is indeed guilty through evidence, what kind of a fucking brainlet thinks accusations on social media is enough to resolve a crime ? the kind of naive person who thinks most people are incapable of lying or can't have another motive altogether like jealously, felt slighted by something in the past etc.

If he is indeed guilty he will get what's coming eventually especially when the court is now involved but people really need to use reason more than feelings when it's something as important as convicting people.
It sucks when people who are victims get ignored in rare cases but it doesn't give anyone any right to potentially ruin anothers.

Anyone that adheres to cancel culture should be jailed I believe.

I hope not but the above sentence is interesting, hopefully just sarcasm and not actually how you feel but there should definitely be some sort of penalty for people who are intentionally lying as a disincentive for such actions.

A prime example Zoe Quinn Spreading a rumour so bad a game dev offed himself as his friends and family even fellow employees wanted nothing to do with him and then bragged about it on social media all because she got him harrassesed and he couldn't get work at all for it .. Yet she got away with it.. and not attacked for it..
