Love me some Chex Quest, but wait here just a sec.

40-150 bucks for some plastic and a t-shirt(plus maybe some other stuff) and an "HD" copy of a game with only 5 levels?

And 27 bucks for a record of the game music?

*falls over laughing*

Well at least the game is free by itself. I love them giving the game for free, but them trying to make big bucks off of people's love for a free game is insane.

Well that's sad that there isn't a GOG release. You would think that this would fall under the "good old games" category. Not sure how many people on Steam even remember Chex Quest.

This must be an american thing , I haven't seen this cereal here in the EU.

Well the original game was free and this one seems to be set to be free as well. Maybe GOG didn't want to start a contract with them(if they do not have one with them yet) just to host a free game?

I do. I loved the original short as it was. Cheesy intro and all.

Hell I even played the sequels released for free on the net.

It was essentially a cereal company paying some guys to make a doom MOD(or WAD) based on their product, which they then gave out with their boxes of cereal long ago.

I think a decent number will remember Chex Quest, at least in the US, especially because it's made some gaming news in the past few years. And yeah GOG seems to avoid free games, though some of that may depend on publicity and wishlist votes (we got Daggerfall and Arena, and I imagine GOG would like to have Starcraft + Brood Wars here).
That is one extreme HUD :|

Plus it had a Doom 3(non-bfg) mod, and Cinemassacre(James Rolfe on youtube) covered it as well.

It is a decent game, all things considered.

I'm not surprised by this at all, seeing that Chex Quest is essentially an advertising game, and for a product and a company that apparently still exist. I'm more surprised that Steam allows it, but then again they don't really seem to care what games they host, as long as it brings them more users.

(Mind you, I'm not saying anything against the game, just pointing out that there's a perfectly good reason for GOG not to host it.)

Leroux:
I guess I will concede the commercial thing.

I would still buy Pepsi Man if they rereleased it on PC on GOG though.
Very interesting, I knew of doom clones and even Wolf3d clones as well one being Noah's Ark 3D which was based around that god awful SNES port of Wolf3d. I heard about this series from watching the AVGN episode about the Chex Quest games and he said that the games are very good.
