WinterSnowfall: So even your ethics are rather half-assed then, eh? :P
Less half-arsed and more knowing where to draw a line between boycotting certain companies based on when, where, and how they behave or interact, and when I have to force myself to live in the forest in a hut I made myself.

Swedrami: How goes your boycott of everything developed/published by Riot (Forge) or every game running on Unreal?
Strictly speaking you'd have to stop purchasing titles on the other platform as well, since Devotion obviously was too hot to handle for the spineless cowards over at Valve HQ too.

Rezalon: I haven't touched a single Riot game. Unreal is also only minority owned by Tencent; until they get outright bought or majority owned then I tentatively use their products.

And, no, I won't stop purchasing games from Steam nor GOG because the money I give them doesn't directly go to the CCP. I don't appreciate their doing business with Tencent, Net Ease, etc., but I have to pick and choose my battles.
Well I can see your viewpoint, but I would be more worried about Data theft and such because China is well known for that. I wouldn't worry about in old Computer games though.

The CCP is involved in every company in China.

Data theft is another reason why I try not to purchase from Chinese owned and/or operated companies, but by also not giving them any money one is not supporting their abhorrent activities.

Gudadantza: A game that never heard about was Desert Law. It is a game based in the Blitzkrieg Engine I never was aware of its existence. Something similar to what other guys did with the game Stalingrad but with a completelly different setting and more focused on story apparently.

For fans of the Blitzkrieg games style of gameplay It should be worth a try. Also I like a lot the art direction indeed. It appears to be polished and the comic book approach is very atractive.
The art direction and setting is what intrigued me, I don't believe I ever played Blitzkrieg but I guess it's a popular engine ?
Okay, why is the first post (which is not even labeled as post 1, nor any other number) a post by a random user, rather than GOG? I assume it also has something to do with why Cadaver's post is an hour older than the actual release announcement. At any rate, I don't recall ever having seen such a thing before.

Also, please stop engaging with the political zealot. It just makes a thread lock more likely.

It was popular at the time, at least in Europe, specially for mods and fan made addons, etc. It was like the previous Sudden Strike with a more "modern" Engine ( Isometric 2d Terrain and 3d units ) and more focused, less massive. It was developed by Nival Interactive

In fact it was the time when the mainstream RTS genre adopted that concept of more direct approach and less base building style of games

I believe it still have their little community of fans because they considered the sequel too "arcadey" and less meticulous or tactical.. If we consider the Engine as the origin of the Blitzkrieg II Engine, then the real importance could be that it was was used for Heroes of Might and Magic V

Rezalon: If anyone here has some integrity they'd purchase an ethically made game like Devotion over any of the tat in this sale.
AFAIK, Devotion is still censored.

Ancient-Red-Dragon: I appreciate your effort, but for most people, using an obscure game to define another obscure game doesn't mean anything.

Could you explain the game in relation to a commonly-known game?
Blitzkrieg is well know game, just not so much where we live. There are tons of spin-offs and modes for it.

Sounds like a manipulation. I personally don't agree with the ethical stance being taken. The vast majority of games I've purchased were developed in the US.

The link to shop is nice, but it's unethical to post links to other shops in the first place. Also it's advertising and against Code of Conduct.
Desert Law is the most appealing to me of the bunch. Death Track might be a fun diversion as well.
So I did some video research for all these 4 games.
They're pretty much a bunch of ho hum haf assed games
Death Track Ressurection is sequel to Death Track, but without the soul and typical over bloom of PS3 era.
Desert Law is pretty much a game using Blitzkrieg engine and it's just RTS style but with story driven game. The comic book storytelling is actually much more interesting than the game itself. If you insist of getting one of game from this list, this is the only one who looks like it's worth playing.
Freight Tycoon Inc is just typical transport tycoon style game. Just stuck with TTD or OpenTTD
XIII Century Gold Edition is pretty much the discount version of Medieval Total War without the complexity or the fun.

The only top side is the price. But at this rate I rather buy more quality games. that cost the same as these 4 combined and have much more fun.

Well at the price they were hard to resist, especially as they all seemed interesting enough. Perhaps there is a gem amongst them. In any case I bought all four, as the risk was minimal. Each having a different personality, and they certainly appealed to me more than those Wave Rock games we got at GOG a little while back.

People had started noticing that the news were appearing on the forum some time before they were due for a few seconds, so GOG started posting them blank with the title "Placeholder." I suspect this is a consequence of this new practice.
I saw the placeholder NEWS thread with no posts and posted "Yes, please!", I regret doing so. Never again. I expected it to be deleted like 2 placeholder NEWS threads before that.

Thanks for the explanation.

I'm pretty sure the fact that your post is the "OP" makes you an honorary GOG employee. Congrats/I'm so sorry!
