The game (Birth of the Empires), that I've ported to Android is doing pretty well, and reached over 5000 downloads with an average rating of 4.2. The main remaining issue seems to be a lack of tutorial which I plan to fix until the new year, after implementing cloud saves.
This milestone calls for a celebration imho. Btw. my rep seems to have reached 1111 which is a really cool number ;). So double celebration it is.
To celebrate properly I have one copy of X3: Terran War Pack to win, which is probably the game that I've spent most time with (it's actually two games, X3 Terran Conflict and it's expansion Albion Prelude - both games can be played for thousands of hours without ever getting bored). It certainly is the series that I spent most time with. If you don't like space sims or suck at them, don't worry, I suck at them too, but the X games are more about empire building than about simulation. But the game can be played in any way you want. You can be a pirate, blowing up ships for profit or a trade magnate, it doesn't matter.

Now on how to enter:
- tell me about your favorite space-themed game, which is it, and why should i play it. Start with I'm in because I love and continue with your entry
- your account should be created before 01 November 2015 (sorry newbs - but it's hard to separate legitimate users from spammers)
- you should be an active member of the community (not just in giveaways)
- you shouldn't be on the known scammers list
- (Optional): visit the discussion thread about Birth of the Empires. You can try out the game even if you don't have a tablet, there are PC versions around, and tomorrow I'll update the PC versions with the latest fixes. Leave a feedback there if you like/dislike the game.

The giveaway will and at my discretion when interest fades or on the 7th of December, whichever comes first. The winner will be chosen by me taking into account the entry and other factors which may or may not be random.

Good luck!

congrats
That's some cool achievements you have unlocked.
Any tips for dummies/noobs like me who want to develop some games?
And which game is better X series or Galactic Civilization 2?

Okay. Here goes. Before I begin, thank you for this giveaway!

I'm in because I love Chicken Invaders. The game is not only in space, and not only a new blend of the Space Invaders genre, but because its so funny and humorous, and not really serious. The protagonist is a space ship pilot whose job is to fend off the invading space chickens from damaging the Earth as payback for the abuse their Earthly counterparts suffer, and the attacks just come one after the other that basically he couldn't fend off his hunger for more than three games in the series. However the guy fries a lot of these invaders and converts their healthy remains into a highscore, however the guy crosses everything between asteroid belts, incoming comets, huge feather fields and even a sun going supernova, and that's with a ton of arsenal just to fry the chickens, between ion blasters, laser guns, missiles, and even utensils. Its a delicious game, and why should you not miss out on it? There simply is nothing to hate about shooting chickens from space and turning them into food you can collect. And I haven't mentioned the story yet. Go, play it. Its worth your buck.

X Series. But they are completely different genres. GalCiv always felt to me as a generic albeit above-average 4x TBS. The X games however are something unique. They are space sim and economic sim and strategy games all on one.
As for tips about developing games: code, code, code. It's a lot of work really and I just ported a game. Writing from scratch is many levels harder especially because you need artwork which i for example couldn'tcreate.

Bump
Not in, but take my sincerest congrats! And good luck.
Congrats on the milestone blotunga!

Not in. +1 for the GA.
I'm in because I love Xwing!
It was my first space sim and that game increased my love for Star Wars :P
It's quite old, however, so you could try the newer sequel X-Wing Alliance instead.

Btw, congrats for the port.
I can't play your version, however, because I don't own a tablet :\

I'm in because I love FTL. It has well written events, tense and tactical battles, and engaging decisions to be made. Do you attack a ship in the hope of earning scrap or accept a bribe to leave them alone? Upgrade your systems or save up for repairs, fuel, and new equipment and crew? The random generation means that every game is different, and they are never long enough to start to drag. I ma sure I am not the only one to know the pain of killing half your own crew when you forgot to stop shooting at the enemy after boarding them. The free upgrade to the Advanced Edition added a ton of new content to the game to give seasoned players new things to discover and use, and new strategies to try. If that is not enough for you, mods like the Captain's Edition expand it even more.
Thank you for this. Hope I qualify for the giveaway.
I'm in because I love Wing Commander. At the time, when I was a little lad,the WC séries was the closest thing to simulate being in the Star Wars universe.
I just feel in love with the characters, the universe was fascinating, the gameplay solid that still holds up and the ship design is something that I find timeless.
When the shift to FMV was made on WC3,I just could not believe the all star cast(me playing as Mark Hamill? So much awesome) but the story got better and more mature and the soundtrack just stuck in my mind to this day.

Actually you can if you open the OP of the discussion thread
Congratulations on your achievement! I hope it will be a success.
I will save my questions to the other thread.

I'm in because I love Frontier (Elite II). What an amazing game. It was quite a technical achievement, with a vast realistic universe, and actual physics. But it is old now, so you should not go looking for it.

I'm in because I love Star Control 2. It is amazing fun and quite funny. The way the story develops is very captivating. The arcade bits are entertaining too. Be sure to play the Ur-Quan Masters remake. I just noticed the HD version.

I'm in because I love Master of Orion. Yes, the first one. I played the sequel for a brief period only, and I remember I got confused early on. Its mix of long-term strategy with battle tactics is addicting. I should try the second one again. I was very young then.

Of course I'm curious about the X series games (and also the Kerbal Space Program, but that one is an entirely different kind of game).

I already saw there was a PC version, but I thought you only made the port.

Well there are two PC versions. The original and my Java port :)
Not in. But I gotta recommend the Descent series. So much fun, so much pew pew.
