As we step into the month of June, we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate something very important: Pride Month.

Pride Month serves as a reminder of the progress we have made towards creating a more equitable and inclusive society, as well as the work that still lies ahead. It’s an opportunity for us to reflect on the importance of celebrating and embracing the diverse identities and experiences that enrich our lives with different perspectives. At GOG, we firmly believe that diversity and inclusion are not just buzzwords, but fundamental principles that drive innovation, foster collaboration, and enable us to simply grow as people, as well.

To celebrate Pride Month, our queer team members selected the variety of games containing LGBTQAI+ themes and characters, all available on GOG. Inclusive environments and diverse characters create a safe space to have fun and express yourself for all kinds of gamers!

This time, we decided to choose a slightly different approach, to make browsing LGBTQAI+ games much easier; instead of just one collection, we created a whole page and divided it into categories.

Among such, we’ve created a list of games containing masculine romance representation – we’ve gathered all the games we could think of that include romance representation between male characters. Whether it’s Kerry Eurodyne in Cyberpunk 2077, Kim Kitsuragi in Disco Elysium, or Nailsmith in Hollow Knight, we tried our best to get them all! If you have any other recommendations that slipped our attention though, feel free to share them with us.

Another category you’ll notice is, of course, a set of games containing female romance representation. Through the emotional story of Unpacking, walking alongside protagonists of Life is Strange, getting to know Undyne in Undertale, and even more – we’re sure they’ll all steal your hearts!

In Choose-Your-Gender category, we’ve gathered games that allow you to play around and choose your gender representation in the virtual world freely. It’s a great way to explore your own identity, as well as try to put yourself in other people’s shoes – all while being in the safety of your own game, NPCs, without an ounce of worry about judgement.

Last but not least, we’re proud to present a list of games featuring transgender characters. Representation of trans people in video games is just as important as in any other media – and we couldn’t be happier to see the number of them slowly growing. Meet Claire ( Cyberpunk 2077), Sam ( Normal Lost Phone), Jackie ( Night in the Woods), and many more!

Let’s celebrate Pride Month – and together, make love last forever!

WinterSnowfall: I would have normally said people were never marginalized for being left handed, but... in the middle ages that was sometimes regarded as being influenced by the devil, so... yeah.
My wife was born in 1977 (UK), she was born left handed, but was forced to write right handed as a kid because it "wasn't lady like".

People were still being considered "sinister" for being sinister right into the 1980s

NuffCatnip: If you're interested in horror stories, get Scarlet Hollow, it is simply amazing!
I've been impressed with the reviews. I've been waiting impatiently for them to complete it so that I can play it.

I'm sorry you're having to filter out so much hate
I think they just pruned everything that mentioned Poland. I asked about ESG/ DEI over there and it was gone, along with others talking about Polish culture.
Ummm....do folks realize that pride is a negative human characteristic often derided in most cultures? It's kinda like saying let's celebrate greed, envy, etc.

Remember, when the peacock struts his stuff the shows his backside to half the world. Herve Weiner

Pride is at the bottom of all great mistakes. John Ruskin

Whenever nature leaves a hole in a person’s mind, she generally plasters it over with a thick coat of self-conceit. HW Longfellow

Pride is a fruitful source of uneasiness. It keeps the mind in disquiet. Humility is the antidote to this evil. Lydia Sigouney

If a proud man makes me keep my distance, the comfort is that he keeps his at the same time. Jonathan Swift.

Pride is nothing like greed or envy, because it's quantifiable. You can be proud of your accomplishments and that's fine. But you can also be too proud of your accomplishments, and that's not fine. The Biblical sin is pride in excess, not pride in itself.

ciemnogrodzianin: Is being left handed or having brown eyes also a cause for pride and celebration?
avatar
mechmouse: It would be if you used to be executed for being brown eyed, or forced into conversion therapy to be right handed.
To be fair in the US atleast Lefthanded people used to be made to write with the righthand ..if I recall right it was a thing do to one of the World Wars and a fear of spies or something like that and it was persistent thing up to atleast till sometime after my mother was out of school and her left hand is scared from hard hits from a school ruler regularly from being a left handed person.... So while not conversion therapy it was a thing to be against left handed people to make them write with thr right hand in someway

I don't understand why there's not also an S for Straight in the acronym LGBTQAI+, since it's supposed to be inclusive.

To be honest, I feel very sorry for the staff having to do this, its very difficult to quickly cull the hateful content and not inadvertently catch stuff that was more nuanced.

Its terrifying how things have changed so rapidly over 5 years.

mechmouse: For those claiming "Politics"
Being LGBT is as political as being left handed or having brown eyes.

Yes.

What you say makes no sense whatsoever in terms of being quantifiable. All the above characteristics can be treated equally. You can be a little greedy, or very envious. You are playing word games. Pride is still not a good thing to be sure.

Actually, back in the day children were essentially forced into "conversion therapy" to be right handed.

Or, more accurately, left handed people were forced to learn to write with their right hand, via means that most people would consider to be cruel today.

By the way, once left-handedness became more accepted, it appeared to become more common, until it leveled off around 12%, I believe.

Incidentally, the progress pride flag does have black and white in it; it's just that they're not the *only* colors in it.

No, I am merely using a tool feared and neglected by many unwilling to accept alternative views: logic.

While it is true one can be a little greedy, or very envious, not even in minute quantities do they represent anything good (or at least neutral). Being proud of having raised your children properly can't be a bad thing to be sure.

To be fair I should have said
are "Still forced into conversion therapy to be right handed", as my wife was one of those kids forced to be right handed

People were marginalized for being left handed as recently as last century.

Furthermore, many of the human-made tools and devices you find are made by and for right-handed people; the issues of left-handed people are often not considered. (This may have been an issue with the Nintendo Wii, for example.)

Agreed, my kids don't hate people for who they love. My daughter didn't even have to come out as Bi, she just started dating a girl.
