They are marketing the game as some kind of a fast paced shooter, or an action game like GTA. In reality, based on what the journalists have said and based on CDPR's previous games, this is likely going to be a slow paced RPG game where most of your time is spent maintaining relationships and conversing, and the combat is likely average.

It's going to be pretty stupid when reviewers and streamers who were expecting a futuristic GTA see that it's the quintesence of what they hate in video games.


Like that PS4 leaker who glanced at the character creation screen and was like "what am i looking at here". I dunno how can you call yourself a gamer and not know what a character creation screen is...

So imho that's not good because most gamers care about action and whenever there's more than 20 seconds of talking they get bored.

Not what I expected.

I thought it would be about "100% of your money goes to CD PROJEKT GROUP" when a small portion actually goes to VISA for processing the transaction and yet more of it goes to a government somewhere in taxes.

I wonder how much it cost CDPR for all the advertising and giving handouts.

Can you elaborate on how Witcher 3 is not a real RPG, and what is a real RPG then? I can give a lot of examples of modern so-called RPGs, which are indeed shooters with RPG-like stats added for fun measure - but Witcher?

I'm only basing this on what I've read (I've only played The Witcher 1, the later games don't run on my laptop), but supposedly character builds don't matter, combat is simplistic button-mashing and quests don't have much choices and consequences. At least that's what they seem to be thinking over at rpgcodex.

You missed a great game if you haven't played Witcher 3. It's one of the best modern RPGs. Witcher 2 was mediocre and a bit linear in my view, but the third instalment is a great title. Great screenplay and writing as well - one that Cyberpunk will probably not beat.

The advertising is silly. They call it a DRM-free game while locking rewards behind online client connection. Evidently this is not a DRM-free game by my standards or the standards previously set out on GOG's "sister site," FCKDRM.com. There needs to be more uproar from users about this. Enough of the second-class treatment towards those of us who don't want this client world of always-on everything. Some of us came here specifically to get away from that type of service!

Can't / won't comment about Cyberpunk as I haven't played it yet. Witcher 3 was great and set the bar very high.

But was Witcher 3 just a great story with cinematic visuals or actually a good game with interesting systems? I haven't heard much about the latter, everybody always just mentions the story and the visuals.

It was a great all round game in my view. Long and detailed main quest line, multitude of fully developed side quests (majority not of the Ubisoft / fedex variety), stunning visuals for its time, running very smoothly, reasonable variety of weapons / armor (although collecting a full set was really tiresome), normal combat system for real-time RPG (nothing particularly "wow" or original, but also not worse than any other recent RPG or RPG wannabe).

Story and visuals are the strongest point, yes - but the story was told really well throughout the game and its activities.

There are many sandbox activities as well like clearing monster areas, a collecting card game (really a full game within a game though - they even span it off later as a standalone), fist fights, treasure hunts etc etc if this is what you fancy. I personally don't because it becomes boring very quickly.

Thx, interesting. If I ever get a laptop than can run it and if it's on sale, I might buy it and try for myself :-) I wasn't the biggest fan of The Witcher 1, but the setting and characters were interesting (kind of fancied Triss...).

I'm replaying W2 at the moment - really enjoying it and it still looks great. The original plan was to finish it and immediately start W3 (lost my old W2 end save game), but I've now parked starting W3 until the RTX patch comes out next year.
