Ah, you were being sarcastic and talking about the previous EA trend. That's old news, the latest trend is that EA is failing because of Battlefield preorders or something. EA is big enough and has a diverse enough portfolio to survive even large franchise failures - at least for a while. That said enough blunders will kill it so they had best learn from their mistakes.

It's really absurd how out of hand this got in a really bad way. The "did you assume their gender?" joke is literally a joke poking fun at people who get outrageous at any little, harmless thing (or those Tumblr dwellers who create countless inexistents genders even in a psychological standpoint) and not at transgender individuals themselves. In the context that Cyberpunk 2077's twitter used the joke, it wasn't even used with malice behind it, it was the twitter person simply being silly like he or she usually is. I get it, some people may get offended by this, but it is not something to lose your mind over to that extent. There are better ways of communicating that you'd appreciate a different tone other than going full aggressive and treating the company like they're some sort of genocidal maniacs.

CD Projekt honestly needs to stop apologizing for everything that people complain when it comes to their social media team. Both GOG and CD Projekt RED now have apologized over things that they shouldn't have in the first place, and to what end? The people who want to look at things to get outraged by or throw shit at companies are not pleased, their fans are not pleased, and they're passing the image that they can be swayed by a loud, extremist minority who only cares about what they think is right and nothing else.

Apologizing back at the Postal 2 joke didn't help much and a lot of people offended by it weren't even GOG users (and won't be because of an apology), and apologizing now didn't work very well either. Hell, a PR guy from CD Projekt Red is getting doxxed on ResetERA, and this is sad and dangerous. Because of a little joke that offended some, people are conducting a witch hunt, and instead of CD Projekt Red standing their ground, they apologized, giving this sort of toxic people even more fuel. How can people who claim to be "progressives" try to get someone fired over a joke? That's the same kind of people that also defend violence and other terror tactics, by the way, including doxxing (which is known to lead to very dangerous situations).

I honestly hope that CD Projekt (and their subsidiaries) decide to make a stand against this sort of thing in the future. They're experiencing it firsthand how those people who claim that they fight for "justice, equality, acceptance, etc" are just hypocrites who are willing to destroy a person and make them lose their job over a tweet. I understand that having bad press may be a bad thing, and that's why they'd want to apologize; however, apologizing gives that kind of people power and makes them think they can make you do what they want you to. It's a vicious cycle and unfortunately many companies have fallen into it, and I'd hate to see CD Projekt and their subsidiaries to follow suit.

I hope that CD Projekt Red maintains its vision, and doesn't let the outrage mob dictate their course of action. CD Projekt Red is a beacon of light in AAA gaming in these times, and they deserve all support they can get; this shitstorm has to stop.

While the article tells us how well EA did until May, the updated chart for EA's stock tells us a loss over $20 towards the end of July. They did well until Battlefield V was announced. Jimmies were rustled.

I have always been puzzled by some peoples mad dash for appropriate labels that they can then apply to themselves or others. I just need my name because I know who I am and the people I care about know who I am. It's nobody else's business.

I'm a GoG user since 2011 and while I don't have much playtime on my account, I've been playing CDPR games since Witcher 1 got release. I launch Galaxy daily, lurk internet a very lot (since I can't really join the outside world anyway) and buy games here without thinking too much of whatever politics or groups they are attached to.

Now the funny part. Having read this thread, read differents media outlet both in french and english daily, I'm sure I would never have heard about this twitter post if people did not come to me personnally, knowing I have a Geralt head statue on my shelf, to rub more drama in my face.
And of course, none of my entourage playing videogames cared about it, only people that never touched a pad (or whatever preference you hold towards devices, no offenses) are getting all heated up for this.

Heck, I never heard of that "Postal 2" debacle. You could say I live in a bubble but really, how could SJW hold any power outside those Social Media dumbfest ?
Over all the videogame content creators I follow, I'm either really lucky to avoid every drama (such as the somehow infamous "MundaneMatt" that folks also made me discover "'cuz it's so huge") or people are giving them way too much credit (and power, by the way).

After checking, the Nichegamer website (which should be a haven for people not liking the mass media) is filled with sudden hatred towards GoG over "repeating mistakes".

I'm sure this thing will fade out. It will for me, in 5 years, I will care even less for all of this, but I'm not a smart guy and I only care about the passionnate peoples making games that I love to play. Now, I apologize for this long post that adds nothing.

For better or worse, most devs and publishers decided to be a part of that Social Media dumbfest. I guess they see it as a convenient way to receive feedback from their fans, and to inform people of new releases and drum up hype.

Yes, sadly, the more popular you get, the harder that double edged sword will strike you. I think that's it, it's just sad to see how things go. I avoided the celebrities dramas all my life and now, the medium I love is stuck in a relentless vicious circle.

Not long ago we had the Guild Wars 2 devs firing an employee for harassing a fan on twitter and the Echo-Chamber circle-jerk to get all rilled up to defend her. Now we have this, for nothing but harmless words, they are starting another crusade that won't be victimless.

It's never ending and as childish as it goes it gets more and more difficult and dangerous if you are on the wrong side of the fences. I'm a bit dramatic, sure.

It's nothing new really but it sure gets way too much coverage from people that don't really want to do their jobs.

I remember with the Postal joke situation one of the GOG PR representatives was doing the rounds there on Resetera explaining the situation.
If my information is correct the recent post Doxxing a CDPR employee was deleted, but the user was not intermediately banned after doing so.

I would advice any staff members against interacting with that site entirely, clearly the Resetera moderation team is not overly concerned with your safety.
