ReynardFox: First GOG cowtowed to these people on Twitter, now I see CDPR does it too... the precedent this could be setting is genuinely troubling.

GOG, CDPR, mods, you're all being catastrophically stupid by apologizing to and prostrating yourselves for these social justice lunatics, and also by picking a political side in the first place.
Or perhaps it's just a marketing stunt in this outrage culture. Adapt or go under, they said. It will give you lots of attention, they said. Seems to work great, as evidenced by even more outrage. *throws popcorn*
You people are a business, a storefront, to get political is to risk irreparably damaging said business, especially in the current batshit insane socio-political climate. Stop it.
If you're aware of the explosive climate, why add fuel to the fire by resorting to name calling? This solves what exactly?

SpecShadow: NeoGaf and ResetEra have good fundaments - don't be mean to each other. In reality? It's full of toxic people baiting and provoking people so they get banned by trigger-happy moderators. They want respect but don't respect anyone.
Sounds like 4chan but at least there can make some interesting creation among their own cesspool...

And they got no sense of humor, whatsoever.
I wouldn't delete that tweet but whatever.
NeoGaf isn't that bad anymore, not since the all the crazies moved to ResetEra. It's actually worth using now, and from what I can tell you no longer get banned for simply having an opinion.

---

As far this debacle (how many are we up to now with CDP and social media accounts?) wish I could say I'm surprised but I'm not. It's bad enough to get yourself into this mess... it's even worse to then bow down and apologize wherever someone is offended. News flash CDPR / GOG it's 2018, everyone is offended about something. They will get over it (and hopefully grow as individuals because of it). This sheltered life that people are living in this day and age is beyond more harmful then what any one person could say with words.

I'm buying less and less from GOG recently and using it far less. This is by no means the primarly reason why, but I am quite tired of companies having no backbone and this is probably the final nail in the coffin for me.

EDIT: Also what is happening to that employee is wrong and I hope CDPR takes action to protect him or her rather than punishing said employee.

Oh, good. That bed of screech owls has gone full 4chan, eh?

Guess it won't be long before that domain is reported.

I'm tempted to do so myself.

deuxhero: Was this the same guy who called gamers a hate movement after the postal tweet to appease some angry journalists? If so, no sympathy for him in the slightest. Play with fire and you get burned.
No one called gamers a hate movement, try again.

4chan at least in the olden days was a place for grown ups who pretended to be young dipshits - that was the joke, and also you could see that through the satirical texts.
Going full retard on someone for real, like here, is something else - and definitely an effect of progressed time and failed upbringings. In my opinion humanity peaked in the 90s.

Well, I mean, if you remember, that kind of marketing strategy has worked for GTA many times over. It's sort of a standard playbook move these days.

1. Generate outrage from radicals
2. Make sure there's lots of attention on the upcoming product
3. ?????
4. PROFIT!
Some insight on the situation and some clarification.

Doesn't seam to work for Battlefield 5. Pre-orders went down 85% compared to Call of Duty BO4.

I tend to think that has more to do with the fact that it's EA we're talking about here. CDPR still has lots of good will from gamers. EA and DICE these days? Not so much.

this was the towline but it was always a towline.

as for the resetera thing, let me just say that first I do not recognize the term "SJW". that said, I'm surprised these supposed proactive progressives would stoop to this kind of thing.

finally, it's a twitter account get real. it's not like it was something in the times or some bestselling author or something from some academic area. some asshole comedian can go up on stage and tell rape jokes and jokes about WW2 and jews but CDPR does something stupid on twitter (medium of bite-sized stupid because stupid is better at stupid when bite-sized) and suddenly it's cause for harassment?

and who cares if they apologized? what were they going to do? as a business concern, they're likely going to do whatever can get them an inch every single moment. the math was that they probably would gain more by just apologizing and attempting to reset than not doing it.

which is off course why they are doing so badly these days, no one wants their games anymore.

The article you linked to is behind a paywall. Is it safe to assume it's an EA is failing article? I don't think EA will fail perse, at least not for a while.
