We can't have dogs or cats in our flat since II'm allergic. But my husband has a couple of cats at his workplace.

He made those photos just yesterday. Cute!

My cat swears a lot and other cats and dogs are afraid of her because she's a bit aggressive. As long as you do what she says (very talkactive cat) then she's the sweetest thing, if not, expect things to break.

Cats are great, you just need to know your place as cats think they rule the world. That said, I would always choose a cat over a dog, they are a lot easier to understand. Dogs seems a bit dumb in comparison but they have their charm too :)

Do you play with your cats before you sleep? The cat won't bother you if the cat is tired out from playing. The cat probably has too much energy and wants to get rid of some before sleeping.

I would be too afraid to let my cat outside. This year alone, I've seen 5 cats become roadkill in the streets. I've even seen a dead cat in a shopping mall parking lot.

My cat (a year to the day since we had to say goodbye) used to always wake my husband up early in the morning. Thing is, I can sleep through anything (people shrieking about spiders and a vacuum cleaner going? I woke up the next morning and was completely confused when someone asked about it) and my parents tended to ignore my cat.

My husband, not so much. Excessively light sleeper, so whenever my cat came into the room meowing for food my husband dutifully got up and fed her, then struggled to get back to sleep.

Of course, another time when she was a kitten she managed to get a pigeon that was bigger than she was at the time. Still think it dazed itself flying into the patio windows or somesuch and she took advantage of it. Personally, though, live animals are worse than dead ones in my opinion -- never forget her bringing in a frog that hopped around the house until someone caught it.

I'm a noncompetitive marathon cyclist. I live in Moscow. Most "highway" roads in the Moscow region (except the Soviet Big Concrete and Lil' Concrete, and several late-century federal expressways), are two-laners built over old packed-earth country roads from before the automobile was a thing. Which means they go straight through villages.

Dogs are large. A motorist wouldn't want to hit a dog for fear of damaging the car. Cats aren't. I see a lot of dead animals in every stage of decomposition. Some of them are torn and mangled in horrible ways, others just lie by the wayside and ony the unnatural pose shows that they're dead. Some wild animals, too. Mottled brown rectangular brushes: hedgehogs. A dead catlike creature in the woods is probably an otter. Many birds are hit by windshields. Feathers are slow to decompose, and if the bird is somewhat larger than a sparrow, the outline is pressed into the road by passing cars and stays long after the gore is washed away: the ghost of a bird.

But dead cats are the worst. Imagine poor people living in a shitty village which is split in half by a road that takes 10 minutes to cross. The cars go from somewhere you don't care about to somewhere you don't care about, and from time to time, they'd kill your cat, or your friend's cat, or your friend.

I have a cat. She's awesome: fluffy and sleek at the same time, with an incredibly fluffy tail. She likes to ride the bike (in the pannier), play videogames, climb as high as possible, and steal fluffy things. (Which is to say, she takes after me character-wise. Awesome.)

We have a stray, which comes around once to twice a day. She's really irresponsible and I don't think very smart either. I think she was abandoned before she was taught how to hunt or smth. She does not know how to carry her kittens (by the ear? nasty to watch and hear), so most die. But she has a habit of waking ME up. My brother sleeps in another bed nearby, but she always meows at me in the morning. If I still try to ignore her, she'll hop on top of me and try to nap on my back, which hurts.

Are you absolutely sure pets are your thing? This is gonna sound horribly judgemental, but when your animals start hiding from you out of fear, that's bordering on animal abuse. Cats are not dogs - what works for dogs might only confuse and frighten the cat, and vice versa.

Had a cat that would catch flies for us. If she heard or saw one, she would stop whatever she was doing and not stop hunting it until it was in her mouth. She would then spit it out, rip the wings off, and play with it for a few minutes before killing it. Then walk around proud as can be. I really miss that cat, my current one just watches them.
She got treats whenever she caught one, as you can tell by the photo she was really good.
