Damn those cats~~~~

My cat meows and meows waking me up, I walk him over to the cat food dish and even gave him some fresh chow... he turns nose up then walks away...
I walk him to the door, and he doesn't want outside.

He then walks to the middle of the carpet, stretches, then curls up and falls asleep just like that....

Now I can't fall asleep...

Should I be mean and wake my cat up, like he did for me? he literally looked at me just before falling asleep...

Keep in mind that the cat owns you, not the other way around. Do not do anything to disturb your master.

He/she was just expressing their love for you. Just wait until you start finding presents left in your bed ;-)

I treat cats like I do dogs. If they do something bad, rub their face in it, spank them and throw them out. If they repeat it, 3 strikes and they are out.

Naturally it's far more effective if you catch them in the act. Seen one cat who sprayed a cardboard box to mark it. Spanked them, threw them out. Then threw the box out after them. The look of utter shock as they tried to comprehend you totally refuting their marking of ownership in the house as it goes out the window.

Other times when they obviously don't get it, I tell them over and over again. 'Long term repercussions!' and they know they will get thrown out if they get in. One who is like that finally started to hide behind the washer/drier to prevent me from throwing him out.

They know what's coming... even if I can't get them trained like a dog, they know what happens when they do something I don't appreciate.

Our (now) senior cat straight up peed on my partner while she was sleeping, all over her head, pillow and everything.

yeah I got that once two on holidays, just one missing eye and a few weird angles ...

We had a cat that killed a rabbit and brought it to my wife. She did not appreciate the gift and threw both cat and rabbit out the back door. That night I found a little pile of rabbit guts and one very self-satisfied looking cat.
