That is true, which is why lurking is always bad for town. Which is also why lynching a lurker is a fallback solution and not the primary goal. If you have the feeling that someone is scum, that one is the prime target of course. But if no other consensus can be reached it's almost always better to lynch a lurker than to risk a no-lynch. You have a good chance to hit scum and even if you don't, you only mis-lynch a townie who was playing against his own side (by not playing at all). Which is less of a loss than mis-lynching and active townie.

Be aware, however, that this is a personal biased view. Others are more lenient towards lurkers. I, however, have the feeling that lurking is primarily anti-game and therefore I am happy to remove lurkers from the game if no better target is available. ... And as scum I would happily use that rationale to direct a mis-lynch or to throw a useless scum-buddy under the bus to gain credibility.

I am, by the way, aware that you are new to this game and that your jumping on a target of opportunity was a newbie error. Which is why I'm currently not voting for you yet. However, it can just as well be a scum-newbie error as a town-newbie error. It gives off a certain vibe of overeager new scum player who thought he might get away with pushing a convenient wagon. Yes, it is good for town to lynch someone today. But there is no reason to hurry it that much! Sure, maybe you were just playing an imitation game following me. Well I do act roleplaying and what I do is being loud and obvious because I can not do stealth.
I have no Idea how to act criminell and I just do what I think. In my head blue stands for innocence and peace while those red-white dressed are those stuck up. I have no idea how we could figure out anyone beside trial error.
From what I understood now it is that if we kill an honest hero now Zephyr would be next because starts with just everyone. From what I have understand now, you could be as good as one of it too because you badmouth us and using the situation to turn the other ones against the newbies, saying that we have ill intentions because we just follow the lead because we have no idea.

My post seemed to be lost in the void. I was saying, that I haven't realized we started. I'm catching up with the roles and what was written, so I won't vote before.

Other than yogsloth bringing us out of RVS in his first post of a game I think this is the quickest we’ve moved out of RVS in a game I’ve been in (RVS=Random Vote Stage for the new players).

Now me I am more concerned with how quickly ZFR jumped on Pooka than I am with Pooka voting Scene. I see no way a lynch of Scene would happen before he showed up or that he would even get to 1 vote away from being lynched, and ZFR’s reaction seems more LAMIST (Look At Me I’m So Town) than anything. I’ll concede it’s possoble that Pooka is scum and saw an easy way to get a lynch, but seeing how well he played in the Secret Hitler game I don’t see that being the case here.


For the new players LAMIST is a term people will use to describe someone they think is saying or doing something to appear like they are a concerned or dutiful townie when they are really scum or neutral trying to get some town credit.

The more I think and the more time pass the more my anger of traitors among is cooling down the more I came to the same conclusion. Zephyr does everything to look innocent. Even the first random pick seems unlogic if not for just random kill anyone and count on the chance to hit some true hero.

I wanted to make a longer post but it seems Lift covered everything I wanted to say. And in a much better way than I'd have done it myself. It's like he was reading my mind; almost scary

So I second the last few Lift's posts. Including the one on lynching lurkers as a last resort. Yes, being a lurker is far from a definitive scum-tell, but even if it results in mislynch, it has the overall net positive effect of punishing players who are detrimental to town and to making the games fun overall. Emphasis on *last resort* though; given the choice I'll vote on a medium-strong gut feeling than a NAI lurker.


You just said you're a newbie who's not sure how to play. So it could be exactly that: a scum's newbie mistake.

Anyway, as Lift said: it could be newbie-town mistake and it could be newbie-scum mistake. I've seen many townies make all different "slips" on day 1 that weren't slips at all but genuine mistakes. It's a weak scum-indication that I have against you, but it's the only indication I have at all at the moment, so I'll tentatively leave my vote where it is, especially since it's not even close to lynching. If you're town and I find someone who's scummier I'll remove it. And if you're indeed scum I won't fart on you.

After you put your rationale for why lurkers should be removed, I honestly agree with you. In Secret Hitler, we only have barely enough room for liberal kills before the fascists can ultimately control the game. In Mafia, well. So much room. 9 townies, 3 mafia in this one, assuming that scum is 25% of the players and assuming there is no "serial killer" somewhere. Either way, lurker townies are less valuable here than in SH.

As for who to draw reactions from, I think scene should react soonish based on the fact he was once voted on (if he shrugs off that, we can vote on him again, so much time until Sunday). blotunga and SirPrimarform, I'm waiting to see what they will say. That leaves me with Fran76, HypersomniacLive, or Dedoporno.

And again you latch on to somebody else's vote and argument without adding anything new. Yes, you are new to this game. But new players can think for themselves too. If you really are town, try to formulate your own thoughts that can be analyzed and that add something of value. Instead of just echoing what another player wrote. Just latching on to another player doesn't help town at all - and it might very well be a mistake of a newbie scum player who thinks "If I just go along with an active, experienced player, I will look towny."

If, however, you actually are scum, then please feel free to go on with your imitation routine.

That's also a nice way to weasel in on a Town wagon and shrug it off later by saying you did what everyone else was already doing since you didn't know better. But I'm sure that was never the idea :)

I might be inactive today and maybe tommorrow. I am dealing with a bad right dex finger, and it is currently in a splint. The finger went bad from too much typing & middle-clicking w/ the mouse way too close to myself (middle-click w/ your arm strectched out, then do the same with your elbow pulled back behind you, and see the difference in tendon tension). Trying to avoid perma-damage to the tendon etc, so i'm (trying to be) afk for a day or 2.
