Grargar: Instead, we have people complaining that the series has been ruined. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. :D
Well, they could leave the series alone and start something else shooting oriented.

I'm not exactly a big fan of those 180º series turns, where old fans dislike the new games and new fans dislike the old ones. It's an entirely different thing at that point, and it should be treated as such.

bad_fur_day1: It wasn't Resident Evil 4 that did the series in, as far as I can tell it was quite well recieved and I thought it was great. It's the survival horror slowly getting replaced with third person shooter.

Anyway, that's just my opinion.
It was the fifth game that did it. Too much of the action and not enough suspense. Unfortunately they tried to fix it with the follow up but people are now too jaded to care.

It wasn't a 180 though. Resi 4 has a fair similarity to how Resi 3 played. The point of view was changed. But it's still the same style of game as Resi 3 was. That fast paced horror shooter was really done by Resi 3.

RE4 wasn't a 180 from RE3, but undoubtely RE6 was from RE. RE4 was a test run for the new batch. RE5 was a rehash of 4 with new location more combat and less RE, and 6 was a complete departure.

Clearly, by the time RE4 came out they wanted to make something completely different from previous RE games. I actually liked the game itself, but it should not have been named RE.

Roxolani: Well, I just want same atmosphere not a 100% similar to original game. It's obvious that Capcom guys want to attract new fans and other gamers not just only old ones. So I guess they will create something that it will satisfy both groups. I hope it will be as good as the original RE2, or even better. :)

darthspudius: To be honest, all the elements to a great remake is in Resident Evil 6. Unfortunately most people are too biased or unwilling to see the quality in the game. In specific places that game has a great dark urban look that would look and play excellent for Resident Evil 2. Sure scrap some of the arcade stuff but atleast you'd have good controls, smooth good looking graphics and some more upto date design choices which would provide people with a more smoother gaming experience.

Though some die hard fan is now going to say, "Resident Evil 6... pile of shit!"
Well, it depends on how Capcom dudes implement those elements or other new features in RE2 remake. As I wrote in previous post, it's not an easy job to satisfy all gamers, specially some old hardcore fans.

Just like the endless debates between Fallout fans: Interplay/Black Isle fans, Bethesda fans, and gamers who love both era.
I really enjoyed 1-4 for many reasons. After that I lost track of the series as it went all hardcore drm. Have played a Wii game, which was pretty average. I expect RE2 HD or Enhanced or whatever will be nothing more than a money grab, which is what these things are.

RE 6 wasn't all that different to RE 4. Infact I would of said it was closer to RE 3/4 than RE 5.

No it wasn't. It was a collection of vaguely interconected stories with a bunch of trigger happy characters and enforced multiplayer spiced up with "super cool" action cutscenes and explosions. No trace of exploration, tension, puzzles, resource management or even progression.

If RE6 looks like RE3/4 to you, and I have no reason to think you're lying, you must be looking at entirely different things when playing them.

I MEAN JUST LOOK AT THAT THING, THAT IS THE FACE OF EVIL, THAT IS SCARIER THAN ANY SILENT HILL MONSTER!!!

And hopefully they will show the transformation sequences in full gory detail:

I still think the scenes where he mutates are just fantastic and disgusting.

Exactly why I hope they keep the transformations. Go David Cronenberg on it.

I want to see that head being merged into his body while the other head grows.

Seriously this to me is the reason why RE2 is the most charished of the "Survival Horror" Resident Evil games.

Monster William Birkin is the stuff of my childhood nightmares and he stars in imo the scariest intro of the series ever:

Nemesis does it for me. Still scares the shit out of me when he jumps out of nowhere. Great tension in these two games.

Nemesis is overrated, but I understand why he's liked.

He's practically a Terminator only he that he looks a Frankenstein's monster.

And that he constantly chases you even when you go to the next room and armed with a Rocket Launcher.

Heck I'd be even more surpriesed if they remake RE 3 aswell.

He doesn't chase you everywhere. He does eventually give up. There isn't exactly much to be overrated about. The character did its job perfectly. Enough said really.

I know he does not chases you all the time. But I just now that if they ever remake RE3 they will definately emphasize him chasing you all the time. (Probably he moves about the map in real time)
