Most likely it is DOS game.
In intro main character (cook?) saved king during dinner (he was choking).
As a reward you are sent to protect village/farm from monsters.

Isometric view.
You can prepare village for monsters attack by placing pits with spikes in the ground.
There are also other defensive elements that you can buy.
Also you can invest in buying cows.

Then when attack comes hack'n'slash part of the game begins and you have to protect village and cows that you bought.

The answer was that I should ask on this forum ^^
