Oh, I mentioned it in the main sale thread but didn't mention it here where we've also been talking about it...

My card was frozen by GOG at around 7:05am'ish EST however around 12:35pm - roughly 6 hours later it was unlocked and I was able to buy the Nancy Drew game. Rather than risking a repeat trigger of the anti-fraud, even though I have no idea what the specific metrics are that trigger it, I decided to spread the other purchases I was planning to attempt - over a longer period and do one maybe every hour or so to see how that works out. I though I'd mention it here because different people have said the freezes last from 24-48 hours which is probably accurate for the norm I imagine. I don't know why it only lasted for 6 hrs for me, but I'll speculate that possibly GOG support was able to affect the outcome sooner somehow for me, or perhaps things have changed, or even the specific conditions of my lockdown might have been different than someone else's experirence.

Either way, I just wanted to share that it worked at least once for me about an hour and a half ago, and hopefully will continue working now.

No matter how ya slice it though, today has been an awesome day with or without website glitches etc. happening. Kinda the opposite of one of those "when it rains it pours" days.

And now for something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! There seems to be a marked departure of our favourite GOG sales promo game icon during this sale. Yes, technically he's there but in a very very quiet capacity almost unnoticeable.

Are you sure there's a global 5 gift per day limit? I bought 6 today with no problems (through paypal*)

* Though there was one issue though - paypal didn't show me the amount converted to NIS as usual, just the USD and transfer rate.

Did you buy them in one or multible purchases?

That's potentially useful for someone who already owns an Android tablet or phone or who wants to own one bad enough to buy one. I on the other hand have absolutely zero mobile phones or tablets, and no desire to ever own one of either. :) The idea of Valve thinking that I'd pay even 50 cents to buy hardware to be able to use the Steam marketplace to buy/sell trade useless virtual trivia items is something extremely laughable. :)

Having said that, someone on Steam informed me that you can use Google Voice in combination with something called Winauth to handle Steam's mobile authenticator allegedly. I'm not sure if Google Voice and the required features are available in Canada, but I put both on my list of things to investigate in the future. If it works out, then it may be possible to hack around this Steam annoyance using only a PC and zero-cost solutions which would potentially be worth checking out. :)

I know that mobile phones are extremely popular in 2016 in the general population, as are mobile tablets, but what completely baffles my mind is that a company would take that to the level of requiring someone to own one to do something trivial and if they don't have one or want one or have any need whatsoever in life to own one - then they're put at a disadvantage and treated like a second rate customer. I find that totally ridiculous. What surprises me even more though is that even talking about this publicly there are people out there who will laugh or chastise someone for not owning a mobile phone or tablet, like they think it is completely inconceivable that any human being could even get by in life without owning one of these devices! That mere concept is so absurd it is ridiculous!

I've no idea what percentage of the population does not own a mobile phone or tablet and also does not have any desire or need to own one, but I am part of that group. Some people seem shocked by this, and their shock actually shocks and surprises me! Has society come to the point where people are so jacked into mobile devices that they can't fathom how they or anyone else could ever live without one? Maybe I'm the new definition of "old-fashioned", I dunno. I am fairly tech-savvy when it comes to computers and various other electronics and tech in general, but I've never been interested in or a fan of mobile phones/tablets, have never owned one, have never wanted to own one. I can't say that I never will own one or that I'll never want to, but I simply have not felt that way up to the present time and I've gotten along just fine in life. :)

I've had conversations with people who are completely baffled by this where they just don't understand why I would ever NOT want to own a mobile phone. Well, for starters I am at home usually inside my home 24 hours a day 7 days a week. I do not have a job or any other responsibilities that require me to leave the house to tend to other human beings or work for the man or any other daily or even weekly thing I need to do outside of the home. 99.9% of everything I need in life is right here at home, and I own 4 5.8GHz cordless phones. If I draw a circle around my house that contains the entire space in which I live 99.9999% of my life, the cordless phones have full coverage of telephone services within that circle. Paying for a mobile phone and the service that comes with it to more or less give me nothing more than what I already have for my usage case would be a foolish waste of money. As for online activities, I am pretty much glued to my PC for whatever portion of the day I need to or want to interact with things on the Internet, and I love big huge screens (30" monitor and 2 24" monitors). I hate wireless devices and find wireless technology and battery powered computing devices to be unreliable and irritating, with extremely small screens. If they made a 30" tablet or phone then maybe I'd be interested if I travelled or had an out of the house 9-5 job or something.

If I owned a mobile phone or tablet, I would end up sitting here at my computer with my cordless phone and PC at arms reach using an inferior expensive device with a monthly ball and chain contract or other expensive payment plan to use it, and I'd have to force myself to use this inferior unreliable battery powered annoying device to do something I can already do on superior hardware that I already own.

Except authenticate with Steam to sell virtual emoticons.

Yup, mobile devices are _not_ for everyone. Not this one anyway. :)

(While everything I said is an abridged version of how I really feel about mobile devices, I say it half in jest for some laughs too, so if there are any mobile device evangelists out there, take a pill.) :)

Multiple, each game with its own gift key (no multiple purchase of the same title tough), less then a minute apart, so this limit is news to me.
Then again these gifts where only the second time I purchased in the current sale (the first being a bundle couple days earlier), I may be less conspicuous.
Also the last of the gifts was for a DLC (for a title I don't own its base game) - So maybe it Gog doesn't count DLCs?

Does it require Android 5+ or something? If not you could do it on a sub 50$ tablet as well... or your Smart TV/Streamer :)
