I just bought skyrim ae. Vortex cannot find it and when I try to add it manually
I get the error: "cannot find game directory try again" The game is installed
on program files(x86) >Gog galaxy>games>skyrim ae I found the game in the unmanaged
games menu so I know its there. I cannot find any tutorials to manage the game
through vortex. What am I doing wrong? is there a detailed guide on accomplishing
this?

Don't install games to program files. Especially in newer windows versions, it creates problem upon problem with security and permissions. I dont know when games started installing there, but it was always a bad idea.

Vortex is the mod manager from Nexus.

But whatever, this is likely a drive-by anyway. People do that too often, too.

Other than the advice already posted here, ask on the Nexus' forums. Skyrim on GOG is a recent addition so any issues are likely to be on their end.

EDIT: it also says so on the store page, but you are using version 1.6.12 or later right?

It's also the name of a mod manager. The sort you might use to manage mods for Skyrim.
