rjbuffchix: I see this and raise you the Resident Evil 4 that was scrapped for the one that released.
X-com: I guess I didn't mind Resi 4 that much plus I didn't hear about the version that was scrapped. Honestly I wish they would have just continued every game in the same vein as Code Veronica, my fave Resident, including the aesthetic, controls, difficulty, subtlety etc
I totally hear that. On that note, I would love Code Veronica on GOG!!! I will never understand people complaining about the formula becoming stale...I would take that formula all day long. Isn't it funny how people complained about tank controls becoming stale after a run of roughly 5 years, while lauding the "improvement" of non-scary cover-shooting popularized by RE4/Gears/etc that now has been going on for nearly 15 years!
As for the scrapped version, this is what I was referring to:
https://youtu.be/afpf508tDeU ...It didn't look perfect and I would prefer something closer to the original games, but it definitely looks more of a horror game than RE4 ended up being. I would say RE4 was a great action game, ditto for RE5. I would just prefer them be slower-paced horror games. I would still buy them if GOG got them as is, though :)
