rtcvb32: The canary in the coalmine was a warning system early on in which if a bird was going to die (due to lack of oxygen or toxic fumes) then everyone should get out.

So for a few years i've felt fatigue over things i shouldn't. I'm fatigued over WoW, but never played it more than a few hours back in 2005. I'm fatigued over FPS games, call of duty, Farcry, and other games. And then Overwatch which I haven't touched but it feels like i've played it a thousand hours.

Many times it's difficult to play a game for more than 30 minutes before shutting it off, and when i can find a game i can play i'll play it until i beat it or can't stand it anymore. And some games (like Morrowind) i can't start up again

So does anyone else feel like this? Am i just feeling the overwhelming fatigue of everyone else is having, the summed up experiences of the population in general?

Or maybe it's all in my head...
No, my friend. It is not all in your head. I find myself getting to the point that I like talking and reading about video games more than playing them. I have a number of games in my library I want to play, but whenever I go to try and play one I end up playing something else if at all.

I am in a lot of pain when awake and can't sit for very long, so that might have something to do with it. Having other hobbies or interests helps a lot, but I have also found having different types of games helps too. Right now I want to get back into Dragon Age: Origins, but somehow end up playing Stardew Valley or Saints Row 4.

I feel it is a combination of factors: video game genre burnout, the overall fatigue most people in the US are feeling with everything going on, and medical/physical reasons. Best we can do is be patient with ourselves and make sure we have other outlets.
You people are nuts!

I refuse to believe any of this!

Next thing I know, you are all going to suggest that some pathetic 40 year innkeeper might join the site, buy over a thousand games, but instead of playing them, instead opt to just hang out in the forum and troll people!
I have a few comments to add.

Have you considered going to a doctor and taking a test to see if you have a Vitamin Deficiency? That might be one factor that could help you. The art of fermenting could address this problem quite well. Are you making Kimchi? Kombucha? Miso? Etc.? Diet might be a factor in addition.
If that doesn't work see if you might be more sensitive to electrical interference(the line doesn't follow a perfect wave like it should) as well. There is testing equipment you can buy or borrow that will tell you if those levels are high.
Last but not least, how about Meditation or walking? For the former if it's one meditation where they give you a minimum time limit follow it to a tee or it will make you worse.
I sympathize with the fatigue as well. I game but find it harder to focus and finish my games, with the exception of the older ones I played when I was younger.
That being said I find myself ruminating on creating some video games/movies as well. I would like to do a mod of Far Cry 5 if the engine is still Dunia but I'm an idiot in terms of knowing anything about this.
Another aspect finds me wanting to make a game on RPG Maker with certain kinds of visuals...can I introduce audio for RPG Maker and can I make my game DRM-Free?

Sarang: Have you considered going to a doctor and taking a test to see if you have a Vitamin Deficiency?
As 95% of diseases and disorders are from nutritional deficiencies, it's likely i'm deficient. Although i do try to eat fresh food more often than processed food. Just this morning i had eggs, onions & liver... first i've had that in a long time. Alas there's so much liver, it's my meals for the next 2 days :P

Sauerkraut, Kimchi, Kvaas, Kombucha, even homemade hot sauce a bit (which ended up going into the kimchi). All good. Going to consider making salsa, and not sure about Miso, i'll look into it. Honestly after a month of fermented food your stomach likes you more. :P

Just made 14 jars of Kimchi, and i got 2 jars of Sauerkraut to finish. It's a fairly cheap hobby if you have the jars already.

I have trouble finding the time/energy to meditate, mostly because there's enough news to listen to that it gets in the way. And i haven't done it enough to get into the groove. I try to walk every day.

Ditto, i can always seem to pick up MMX or MM2 and play it with no difficulties... no hardships or hangups or the like.

I say do 2D game making unless there's a reason to make it 3D. 3D work complicates games by like 10x. Going 2.5D functionally being a 2D game is also workable. Making games with Cryengine, Unity or Unreal will take a bit of getting used to.

If you go RPGMaker route, you might learn Ruby which it uses as an underlying language (course you can always use the default scripts). As i understand it, the default images, music, effects and everything is free to use, you'll just get heckled if you don't introduce anything new as they are well enough known apparently that it makes it difficult to differentiate it from other games. Though i'd probably hire a pixel artist to do a bunch of the characters and character art if you already had a script ready. It wouldn't be all that expensive probably.
Stop watching Alex Jones :P

okay joking aside, I know how you feel man, I am in the same place too, also this talk of SSRI's has "triggered" me, I remember the HELL those drugs put me through when I was growing up.

Seriously, if you want to go into welding just take the courses you need too, ignore everything else, you are there to learn, stop worrying about everything else.

If you have faith, try praying more, just yell your problems into the sky, regardless of how nuts it sounds. but thats what helps me, you maybe completely different.

This happens to me when depression hits, it could be that too.

I was TRYING.... but they apparently have these requirements that make no sense. I tell them i want welding and only welding, and they want to have me talk to a career discussion for placing me... when... i told them i want welding...

Uggg... I just gave up there. I'll try again later as situations change.

Yep. If they let me fill out the information, in 15 minutes i could have been set up, got my GI Bill going, signed up for 3 courses and be a Welder in like 6 months...
Yeah I'm hoping I may end up trading services with people to feature their character designs in the game. I would also like to get permission to feature background from certain museums or inspired by those people.
The 3D one I'm looking at working with other people because quite frankly if Dunia is open to be used for a mod I would like to do something better with the help of many other people for Far Cry 5. The reason is Dunia looks to do a great job recreating environments, just so amazingly beautiful. It's not photo-realistic but it's got the characteristics down.

For education I know it's not welding but have you looking at edx.com/ for helping your job placement chances?

Well THOSE were... interesting....
It's a hobby - if you don't want to play games anymore then take a break and do something else. Maybe the passion will reignite at some point - maybe not. But gaming is a hobby that's all about having fun. If you aren't having fun then stop gaming and do something else.
I was actually curious about something OP. You're on the Autism spectrum, do you know any languages besides English? If so, which ones and how did you learn them?
CANARY IN A COALMINE

First to fall over when the atmosphere
is less than perfect
Your sensibilities are shaken by the slightest defect
You live you life like a canary in a coalmine
You get so dizzy even walking in a straight line

You say you want to spend the winter in Firenza
You're so afraid to catch a dose of influenza
You live your life like a canary in a coalmine
You get so dizzy even walking in a straight line
Canary in a coalmine (x3)

Now if I tell you that you suffer from delusions
You pay your analyst to reach the same conclusions
You live your life like a canary in a coalmine
You get so dizzy even walking in a straight line
Canary in a coalmine (x3)

First to fall over when the atmosphere is less than perfect
Your sensibilities are shaken by the slightest defect
You live your life like a canary in a coalmine
You get so dizzy even walking in a straight line
Canary in a coalmine (x6)

:)
