I am looking at getting Pathfinder: Kingmaker (could've sworn I had already bought it but I can't find it in my account or in my receipts). So I'm looking at the highest "edition" (whatever it's called.. Imperial maybe??? can't remember).

Anyway, it includes a Season Pass so that's why I'm thinking of getting it so I won't have to worry about purchasing the DLC's separately. BUT... it also comes with some in-game items. It lists "2 in game items" that will "help" an aspiring adventurer with some in game bonuses and the other is a pet that also helps with some sort of bonus. Now it says these items weren't done to mess up the balance... but it annoys me. I would rather play WITHOUT those things.

But, if I purchase that edition... does that mean those items will be automatically included even though I don't want them???? If it's something like a piece of armor or equipment I could simply never equip it but I don't know what the "pet" thing might mean. So wondering if anyone knows whether it's "safe" to buy the top edition but still play the game as it was originally meant (without the added in game bonuses from purchases).

Anyone know?

RANT.

I don't much like all these "editions" that games are sold by now... it's yet another anti-consumer device yet stupidly supported by consumers (consumers go against their own best interest all the time.. I'll never understand it). But, the consumers have spoken. I boycotted Steam for the first 10 years or so because that too should never have been supported by consumers, but eventually you realize that... like voting in an election when people so often stupidly vote against their own interests... the decision has been made and this is what life is moving forward. DRM is by far the dumbest one of all since the ONLY PEOPLE DRM AFFECTS ARE PAYING CUSTOMERS. Pirates pirate. They still pirate and they will pirate tomorrow and next year and next century. The only people DRM has an effect on is paying customers and yet so many of them not only support it by buying games with it... they will open argue on the benefits of it... despite it being against their own interests.

Steam is here to stay. DRM is probably here to stay (though I do sometimes see hopeful signs of changes in that area). So is this crap of different editions and all the various ways of nickle and diming consumers to death (DLC's, microtransactions, etc.). Sure, I could continue to boycott Steam (and DLC's and microtransactions... well actually I do still boycott any game with microtransactions) but it won't change anything now. The consumers have spoken and said "YES... SCREW ME SOME MORE... I LOVE IT" Boycotting is about getting the seller to change their behavior.... but once the consumers have spoken the only thing that will change things is getting the CONSUMERS to change THEIR behavior... and me (or you) boycotting Steam or DLC's won't do that. So long as the companies have the support of enough consumers.. they could care less if some small segment wasn't happy.

Sooo, I now have Steam (have for several years now) and I now buy DLC's and I now go ahead and sometimes purchase the "top tier editions" because.. well those are the choices in this life where consumers have spoken. But I don't like it. I swear if there is a God and S/He asks me when my time is up whether the experiment with the human race was working... I'd enthusiastically answer with "NO... end it. They are too stupid to deserve life."

How's your super computer treating you these days?

misteryo: How's your super computer treating you these days?
Absolutely the most awesome thing I've ever experienced. Thanks for asking. I should take a photo of it and post it because it even looks awesome too. But the performance.... WOW.

Maybe now I can finally have a rig powerful enough to play that Windows game Minesweeper. Always wanted to try that.

As an example of the performance... I'm playing Fallout 4 right now in 2560X1440 with EVERYTHING MAXED and getting frame rates consistently over 100. Never thought I'd see that in Fallout 4. My old computer played it fine but some things had to be turned down a little (shadow quality and distance.. GODRAYS.. etc) and I had to play at 1920X1080 and every now and then rates would dip down to seeing some "shaking" but man this thing has all of the choices maxed out and never dips (at least not yet). Two of the TITAN 1080ti's in SLI really make a difference.. even in games where they weren't "made" for SLI.

ADDED: As of 10:25 PM (USA EDT) games above still available...

That's good to hear. I remember taking about all the setbacks you had seeing that thing up. I'm glad it's working will for you now.

Perhaps there's too many ways you could mix up letters and numbers...

Perhaps so.... for me though it's usually the same way... I always seem to get them backwards...
I think I saw a post mentioning a pet was summoned from an item you could put on your belt. Not sure if that's the same for the one you're talking about though.

I'm also really interested in this game but from what I can tell it's best to wait with a purchase for a while since there's still some relatively serious bugs that break questlines/duplicate characters/hide spell lists etc. The balance probably could use some work as well

There's also no respec option in game it seems :(

I am also interested in this game and have similar questions. I do know the standard in this type of game is to have the "bonus add-on items" added to your acct and you can either delete them in game or stick them somewhere and not use them - including pets. However I cannot verify that on this particular game yet.

I completely relate to the RANT. Just proves how old I'm getting I guess. :)

I've been waiting on this for the same reasons. I want to see how things get balanced, patched and probably wait for the inevitable "now that the first 6 months of mad selling is over and the DLCs are out - here's the new All-In-One package".
The pets are optional. You find them in a chest about 30 mins into the game. You can just leave them in your stash and ever think about them again, sane for other items.

In addition to Linko90's answer:
All the pre-order and high-edition items are separate DLCs that you should install on purpose. If you don't want those items, you just don't install them.

For my part, thank you both for your answers. That seems fairly to standard then and I'll just wait to see how the balancing turns out and for the 'final' edition. :)

Similar things did happen at GOG.

No idea.

Just in here to say "Welcome back, OFG."

Glad to read your computer is kicking butt. Sounds like it was a struggle to get it to cooperate, and that it was ultimately worth the effort. <thumbs-up>

Do you play Fallout 4 full screen and if so did you have any problems getting it to run that way? Went back to the game recently and it would only offer me windowed mode at a maximum of 1920x1080, I never had these problems when the game first released.

Doc0075: Do you play Fallout 4 full screen and if so did you have any problems getting it to run that way?
Yes and no. I've always played full screen (whether it be 1920X1080 or 2560X1440) and have never had any problems. Which brand video card do you use? I've always used Nvidia and haven't had any trouble with F4.

And with this new rig.... man it's awesome. With my refresh rate set at 144Hz, I swear there is almost no "shaking" or whatever the right term is for background stuff when you move. I used to notice on my old computer at 1920X1080 at 60Hz that when you moved at all... say just turned around a little... you would see... I dunno.. almost like "movement" in the background. I think what was happening was whatever was in the background (branches etc.) would get blurry a bit when moving.

That is completely gone with my current settings and even though I always thought it was no big deal it does in fact help in immersion when the world stays clear. And I don't even have a G-Sync monitor (which I guess is supposed to be even better I dunno). Just got a regular 1440p monitor with a refresh rate of 144Hz and coupled with this marvelous rig I am in gaming heaven.

And don't even deserve it at all. I lost about everything I owned in a flood last year... and I had no flood insurance and the homeowner's insurance wouldn't cover it. And I don't work. I just have this amazing family that for some dumb reason always does stuff for me. They say you can pick your friends but you can't pick your family.... well even I could have picked my family there's no way I could've picked a better one.

ADDED: As of 12:30 (EDT USA) today (Oct 9, 2018) the three games above are STILL AVAILABLE. Not yet been claimed.

Thanks, but I'll try to stay mostly gone as promised. I just had this question about this game and couldn't figure out the answer on my own. These gog forums have always been so helpful to me. I can't even put into words my gratitude over the years. It's the least I could do to stay away from pissing people off with my posts. lol

OldFatGuy:
Not interested in the games you offer but I tried to solve the puzzle by using Is, 1s and combination of them and only got invalid codes. Are there other letters/numbers that should be numbers/letters? If some Bs are 8s, that makes a lot of combinations.

EDIT : or an E could be a 3, let's try that
