Hi,

I have been using GoDaddy for the last 6 years and I have been very happy with it. But 6 months ago they merged my host to something called plesk and since then I am constantly having problems accessing my ftp server either via FileZilla or GoDaddy's web interface. Now, I havent been able to connect it for 3 days. The web page works perfectly fine but I cant update it. Also, they changed something and now it costs 100$ to renew for a year. I used to pay 10$ per year.

I heard good things about web.com. I would appreciate if you can share your experiences with web hostings.

If it's nothing fancy can't you use just Google sites?

I havent heard about Google sites before. Will I be able to upload and download files?, make html web pages according to my will? I would appratiate if you can give more information.

I use Stablehost (as previously recommended by someone else on here) and I'm pretty happy. I pay about £4 a month as I used a 50% off code I found online when I first signed up which discounts the price for the lifetime of my contract. If you look around I'm fairly sure you could find a similar code as there were three or four I could have used when I looked.

Edit: I used to be on iPage, but they were crap and expensive; stay well clear.
Stablehost have been fairly true to their name and I've not noticed any slow down or problems in the time I've been with them (over a year I think)

I'd take anything a site like that says with a pinch of salt; they make their money through affiliate links to the hosts they are promoting. It's not an unbiased list of best providers, it's just a list of those who will pay them most to get customers.

Note how iPage is second on the list, iPage sucks. But you won't find many people telling you that online because they're all milking affiliate links for money so sing their praises to get you to click through and buy.

I have no personal experience with eHost, but the fact they appear on a list like that with iPage would make me think twice.

Been using 1and1 since 2006. No complaints. The package I have is two sites for about $105 per year, billed every 6 months. Comes with 2GB mail capacity and something like 1,000 individual mail addresses.

I would first look at where the visitors come from, like if most are Europeans then a host with servers in Europe is a better choice. You can run a VPS or have shared hosting, depends if you want to manage the server yourself or not.

I've used them. My main complaint is their false advertisements. They'll reclassify use as convenient for their purposes. I had them remove some of my files because they decided that my use wasn't in keeping with their terms, but the terms themselves had no mention that files had to be accessed by more than a certain number of computers to be considered distributing rather than archiving.

I was incredibly disappointed by the rather ridiculous requirements they had and the fact that they provide software that violates their policies.

Mainly as Google Sites has been folded into Google Apps for Work.

Most of those web hosting have paid ad-free plans which I thought you may find suitable.
Go daddy is a shared web-hosting.
Google Sites are like wiki page.
Google does sell domains for 12$/year but it uses third party web-hosting.
Also there was a way to use Google Drive for web-hosting, I don't know if it still works.
Also if your ISP allows you can use your own PC for web-hosting.
