DakotaArcana: i always grab the offline version cause i hate having to use an app to play the games when theyre right there on my pc but even using the offline versions makes galaxy pop up and launch through it
I have over 1300+ games and never once had to use Galaxy to play them.

Which annoys me, since i'd want to try it without requiring galaxy. But meh, doesn't matter to me i guess.
If I click Launch right after installing a game with its offline installer or if I click the desktop shortcut to start the game, it always tries to load Galaxy. Clicking the shortcut didn't always do that. If I use an offline installer to install a game, the shortcut shouldn't be trying to load Galaxy.

Yes, I know I can just go to the game's directory and run it from there. I shouldn't have to, though. Would rather have to opt in to use Galaxy than to opt out. We shouldn't be nagged.

As the 2nd post in this thread points out, you can make (and often find) shortcuts that skip galaxy.

But yes, if it's not the default (because people are horrible and, more and more, will whine more often about the lack of a client than its presence), then AT LAST galaxy should have a setting option to install the games with direct shortcuts instead of having to repair this manually every time.

I get it, galaxy is mandatory, and the gog staff wishes our death if we dare to not use it, but downloading and installing it should be a tolerated compromise.

I‘m not sure to understand. I have installed hundreds of GOG games for Windows (on Linux), and none ever tried to start Galaxy or complain about its absence. Barring a couple exceptions that up to now could always be traced back to bugs and lack of testing in an environment without Galaxy (not all of them fixed yet).

No, the requirement to download and install Galaxy is not tolerable (good thing we are not there yet). People who are OK with a mandatory client for downloading/installing games are probably already purchasing from Steam in the first place. GOG could only provide them a smaller choice of games, supported on less systems, at bigger prices.

I shouldn't have to make a shortcut that will do what GOG should already be doing.

Telika literally goes on to say that.

Use Steam. (This is an explanation not a recommendation.)

But I do agree with your point.

I'm saying it, too. I said it before he did. What about it?
The direct non Galaxy shortcut is already created when installing under Galaxy. But It resides in the game folder.
You don't need to create a new shortcut, just move it if needed.
Considering that the first thing I do when a game is istalled is to navigate to the game folder to see how things are organized, it is not a great deal for me.

Gwent is also playable on Steam and mobile - so you don't have to use Galaxy if you don't desire using that client.

However, it's also a multiplayer game, and thus requires the necessary client to connect to other players. Like, almost every game that uses your account on each platform is gonna need it's client to work with the online function, so it is naturally it's own DRM system. Especially with cross-platform games, which needs to exchange the latest data with other platforms. No-brainer.
