krisrh21: I have a question. I own a physical copy of Throne of Darkness on CD-ROM and I've just noticed TOD is now on GOG as well. Does GOG allow its users to redeem digital games with physical CD/DVD game keys, and if so, how can this be accomplished?
DiffuseReflection: You cannot redeem that, unfortunately. GOG does/did have a
reclaim your game functionality but it is/was only for selected games, Throne of Darkness is not one of those.
Thank you so much for letting me know. I'm guessing that GOG's Reclaim functionality never really took off or not a whole lot of gamers wasn't able to take advantage of the service from you answer. This truly is a bummer but kinda expected. I know I was just stretching at straws but thank you anyways
PixelBoy: Kind of, yes.
Sell the physical game to some collector or someone who prefers physical media, and use the money you get to buy a digital version.
I have done that with some games that I don't want to keep in my collection, even with some games that I might like to have but can't because of limited storage space.
With luck you may even end up getting two digital games for the money you get from your physical discs.
Obviously you permanently lose the chance to monetise those games later, so be sure that you only get rid of what you want to get rid of.
I personally have chosen to keep anything 8 or 16-bit, most of my adventure games on PC, games that I have won or gotten review copies of, but anything else I can probably turn to digital versions, if there's a good opportunity to do that.
Thank you for your reply. I might try this at some point in the future especially since I have limited space in my room, but unfortunately as it stands, this isn't really a viable option for me at the moment. Thanks again!
