There are some ways around that.

You can gift codes that are in certain bundles, like Humble Bundle and Fanatical, and those codes don't obviously have your username as they are bought outside GOG.

I probably don't need to tell you that these kind of bundles are rare, and you have only a limited selection of games there. But if you simply want to gift stuff to people you don't know that well, next time there's a GOG bundle, buy a bunch of keys, and then keep gifting them.

What if you create a new account just to buy codes to give away?
Return the game you bought and buy it again using this new account.

I've just checked what the official stance is on this and it seems to be fine.

New accounts cannot gift until 3 months have passed and that account has spent a certain amount already :|
Idea: I guess one could find a trusted friend, send them the money, and then have them buy the gift codes?

The past few gog bundles redeemed directly to the GOG account linked to the humble account, and explicitly says that it won't give you an extra gift copy if you already had the game.

OK, I can't verify that right now, but even if that's the case, you can gift the entire Humble purchase, can't you?

Then the recipient can claim the whole thing to his own Humble account, and activate the games that way. I'm not sure if they have disabled that with GOG bundles, but at least with other bundles in the past that was possible.

I do not redeem a gift code on GoG if i do not know where a code is coming from. Sure, many users prefer to stay anonymous, totally fine, but for me it is important to have a personal and trustworthy exchange.

Codes with unknown sources are only OK on certain platforms which, per se... offer so less value that they do not deserve anything "better" than this.

I think, another thing i feel is important with gifts: It is in general way more personal if someone knows the source and a gift is something personal. While i feel it is totally fine staying anonymous in general, it is not the thing i want to see toward the one receiving a gift... it is just somewhat making me feel uneasy if a source is totally unknown. As i said, it is a gift... always way more personal than some random "keyshop-exchange".

Ah yes, nope... i am not poor enough to accept "anything" no matter how its done. Perhaps other people got "lesser standards". Nothing i want to judge, i just know how "far" it is okay for myself. However, almost everyone is enjoying a gift, no matter the coins they may be able to spend... it is something social, not always a "pressing necessity".
