It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

btw i'm all for having a seperate section for giveaways, that does get a bit annoying. However taking away some of the fun threads is a big no no.

Lebostein: The official and general forum is not the place for that stuff I think.
Well, the forum you posted this in, is named "General Discussion", and that's what happens here: discussions get lead about general topics - some gaming related, some not so much.

While I agree with you in general (pun intended), that we could use some sub-forums apart from the "specific game: X" - ones...I also have to ask: how would you want that to be implemented?

Or maybe better asked: How - do you think - could be avoided, that users would post threads in a sub-forum, which have nothing to do with said sub-forums actually content?

I'm sure, you have visited other forums before in your life?
Have you ever noticed, how often threads get closed, resp. moved from one to another sub-forum?

I can't count how often I read new threads with either a pre-fix or a post-fix a la:"I don't know if I'm in the right forum for this - if not, please move it to the appropriate forum, mods!"

You think, people would get it always right here? Or people wouldn't mess with the subs, just because..? For the lolz?

Do you think Judas or Ciri should spend their time with that stuff? Really?

See, I'm not saying your idea is bad as such...only the practical implementation would be near impossible.

Starmaker: See, this right here is why a subforum for people who want the games and giveaways would be ideal.

Breja: A separate subforum might work, though such sub forums here tend to be rather empty.
Please tell me you're kidding! o.o

A sub-forum for GAs and empty?

That's like saying: "Military Intelligence" --> two words combined, that can't make sense. :p
I always like it if someone comes up with a disputatious topic. Where else one can find the full range of gog usership? :-)
Just thought of a new game 'The Anagram Game'

Lebostein = bilestone

For a second I thought this was going to be bashing mafia and I was going to have to go darthspudius, Licurg, or Breja. OP - I don't really read those threads either. Not that I was going to post a thread about it...

What I meant was that even if there is a sub-forum for that, most threads would probably still be made in the General Discussion. Like with the game specific sub-forums - those are often pretty barren, and starting a topic there is often a waste of time. If you want people to take notice and actually answer you, you end up making the topic in the general discussion.

Yes, I know - I was (half-) joking. ;)

It's what I answered to the OP - it wouldn't work the way he wishes.
Someone messed with the signs and I'm lost - which way to the off-topic forum?

Something tells me it's part of the "... and so on".

That's simply a matter of numbers. There are too few users on GOG to have continuous coverage of some less-popular games. But concerning giveaways and GD, we actually have several proofs of concept: the gifting thread, the trading thread, the wishlist. Newbies arrive and get redirected to those threads. Enter-by-post giveaways cannot be held within a single thread, but a separate forum section can work.
It would help to have some sort of delineation. I do get tired of seeing the same old threads over and over on the first page, but only because I personally have no interest in them. Now if they had an "ignore thread" option like they do a "favorite thread" that would be nice.

Other sites are more heavily organized and moderated but - say one dumb thing and end up banned. So it's kinda the wild wild west here, but you get used to it. If you're looking for the tavern and stumble into the general store, back up, walk a little further down the street and you'll find it.

Interesting idea - I think, I could live with that.

It might, but I'm not sure if it would. Anyway, it's purely academic. We didn't even get a separate sub-forum for Galaxy, we're sure as hell not getting one for giveaways. And given how hard it's to get even the most basic, necessary things done for the forum/chat, it would be pointless, if not outright against our better interests to hound the Keepers of GOG about implementing this.

Also: lol, I got downvoted for quoting Monty Python. I guess it was too much to expect of everyone to know the classic and get the joke. Sorry if anyone thought I was actually trying to offend.

Now that is actually a very good idea. It would be nice to "get rid" of the Gamergate thread and the like this way, without actually stepping on any toes.
