Spy_Gentleman: As for the game, it's pretty fun and much more enjoyable than current Team Fortress 2, at least there is some balance there.
timppu: Is it like TF2? Does it have spies and engineers too? I'm actually thinking of trying out some other f2p multiplayer game, as the latest TF2 update changed so much (that I am unable to find the servers anymore where I used to play earlier).
The thing I like about Team Fortress games, and dislike in other shooter-type multiplayer games I've tried (like Counterstrike, Crysis 3 multiplayer etc.) is that TF games have various different classes that play very differently, not just soldier types that shoot shoot shoot. Like the aforementioned engineer, spy and medic. After all, playing as an engineer in TF makes it feel more like a tower defense game, not a shooter. :)
Then again, sometimes TF2 feels a bit too much like rock/paper/scissors, ie. you have to change your loadout or even your class in order to tackle the different enemy types. Like I recall when one enemy kept changing between scout and spy, and whenever he played scout, I changed to engineer (so that he couldn't run to the intel freely anymore unopposed), and when he changed to spy so that he could sneak up on my sentry gun, I'd change to a soldier with a Cow Mangler 5000, which would make him change back to scout... Over and over again, we kept changing back and forth.
Or if you face some pyro who keeps pushing your rockets back to you, you need to change your soldier loadout to have some common weapon.
While the gameplay looks like TF2, it's actually very different and unique. All matches are 6 vs 6 and you have a choice of 21 heroes overall divided in 4 types:
Offense- Main team damage specializing in elimination
Defense - Preventing the enemy from doing objectives or give protection to your team
Tank - Taking and/or holding the objective
Support - Provide help to your team
Each hero have their own set of abilities and in this game and choosing a hero really affects your team's progress.
Then there's Ultimate, this is something that you must not waste for one enemy, as in most cases it requires you to work together with it. Zarya's Gravity Surge for example, despite being an ultimate, deals a weak damage, but it sucks in any enemy team who is near it and won't be able to get away from it (Mercy and D.Va though can get away from it), if your teammate activates his ultimate that deals some good damage, like, Tracer's Pulse Bomb, then everyone inside it is gone for good.
The game will actually tell you about your team composition, like if your team has a low team damage to make a push, lacks any support or even a tank.
There are some heroes that share similarity to TF2 classes, but they are actually extended in terms of their abilities. Torbjorn is the kind of hero, which shares similarity to Engineer. He can build only the sentry without using any scrap and level it up to 2. He can collect scrap from fallen enemies/teammates to create an armor pack for yourself and the team to provide protection and damage reduction. His ultimate gives him a whooping 300 armor, instant lvl 3 upgrade if the sentry is at 2nd level and a higher rate of fire. His gun also acts as both shotgun and a single, long range fire. His sentry instantly aims at the nearby enemy.
There are microtransactions, but it's actually honest with it. It only sells Loot Boxes, which you can get in every level up you get and you can find only cosmetic stuff such as sprays, skins, voice lines, player icons and money and it's randomly generated. If you get the duplicate, you get the cash instead. You don't need to buy a key to open it.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, in the game, enemy's footsteps, fire sounds and ultimates are louder than from your teammates allowing you to recognize what heroes the enemy team has and konw their location if using the headphones with Dolby Atmos on.
