dnovraD: What do you sit on?
*looks down*

A chair.

I'm just using an ordinary wooden chair, I hate office chairs and gaming chairs with a passion.

That's neat, but unless I were to get rid of this desk, that wouldn't even reach over it.

RizzoCuoco: As we get older, however, we realize the error of our self-neglect. Gaming can actually lead to muscle atrophy, disc herniations in the neck and lumbar spine, as well as circulatory issues in the hands and feet...not to mention a flat ass. Ideally, we'd want a fully supportive cushioned chair with neck support fitting the natural curvature of the spine. So yeah....we're talkin' some major cash.

UnashamedWeeb: This sounds incorrect.

I deadlifted 250 kg / 550 lbs last year and I use a cheap $150 mesh chair. Most people are just undermuscled and that's what's causing them everyday pain. No academic research papers needed here.
You are one strong cat!

The best butt holder there is, a HAAG Creed 6002.

It's multi-use, keister, as well as feet.

Creed?

With cheeks wide open...
Some butt holders are just the worst.

You know what, I got one of those racing gaming chairs a while back and I godda say... they are an absolute trash! How can anyone endure sitting in one of those? After a few years, it still never quite feels comfortable. I've tried everything to make it work. I've adjusted that crappy pillow for lumbar. I've adjusted the head pillow. I've removed them. I've adjusted the recline sensitivity. You name it, I've probably attempted to tweak it; to no avail! In Bill O'rilley's voice: this fuckin' thing sucks!

Anyway, the damn thing was very expensive and I've been getting by using it for years now. I keep telling myself that I'll replace it when it breaks. The damn thing is nearly invulnerable. I think this this will outlive me. Certainly my back. I'd like to get an armchair/recliner or something for gaming on a desktop, but those profiles just don't work. I've also tried some other office chairs in the past and they all suck, but in different ways. None of them suck the good way.

This has been a weird opportunity to rant against those damn racing chairs that everyone and their grandmother uses while streaming. Every gamer in existence apparently has one all the way back from 1650 BC. How could I not have gotten one too!?

Well, I've certainly seen chairs, and this is one of them. Elucidate me.

Yep. I did raise a brow when I saw Ikea selling gaming chairs; they already have legendary furniture, why stoop?

My butt holder of choice is an IKEA STRANDMON Chair in Skiftebo yellow. There is enough room for my to sit comfortable and for my cat to join me. He usually sits along the right-side of me or up on the back of the chair to look down.

Although this chair is super cozy, I don't think it would work all that well if you're sitting at a desk.
My computer is a laptop.

That looks more like the kind of chair my dad could use.

.Keys: That's gotta be the most weird topic title I've seen on GOG. :P
But its true. Thanks for the reminder.

On the topic of exercises allied with good postures:
A good exercise that helps to build up back muscle is plank:
https://www.menshealth.com/fitness/a46800165/what-muscles-do-planks-work/

It helps to avoid future back pain by strengthening the 'core' region muscles.
There are varied levels of planks and variations of the exercise too, which you should adapt depending on your age, resistance and weight.

(Please don't go jumping on the ground doing the hardest one otherwise you might hurt yourself, just a general rule to anybody reading anyway.)

Its not that hard once you start with small timings. 10s, 20s, 30s, taking breaks and making the time higher as time goes, with responsibility and understand your body.
Again: Depending on your age, resistance and weight. Do not force it if you can't. Start with 5s if needed.

I'm not that physical but when I started doing it, I could do 30s. After 2 weeks I could get to 1m, 2m and really felt the difference on back strength.
yes, the plank is king! though if you have weak shoulders other venues should be explored
Masses of asses...butt funk...this might be one of the most entertaining treads ever.
