Despite Jack Keane 2 being infamous because of 'The Keaning' as the event got to be known during the first Insomnia sale, where Jack Keane 2 The Fire Within kept holding up the sales because to sell the 80 copies took almost a full day, precluding the other sales of the Insomnia from showing up, I bought the Jack Keane series.

Truth be told, I quit liked the story of Jack Keane, even though it's a bit long. I quit halfway, started up Jack Keane 2, found out the start of the story doesn't make sense at all if you haven't played through the first part in full, then started the first game from where I left it. Then halfway the game, I couldn't continue. You got to create a mutant plant for yourself and I got everything in place: flower bed, soil, both seeds, the pipe is fixed, but when I click the faucet Jack Keane utters the line 'No, nothing happens' and when I try to put fertiliser in the flower bed Jack reacts with "doesn't seem to work".

Yet all walkthroughs agree with the steps I've taken and the next step should be the fertiliser can be poured over the seeds as well as water is supposed to flow, but my game is clearly bugged. I made a post in the Jack Keane forum: https://www.gog.com/forum/jack_keane_series/jk_1_stuck_on_making_mutant_plant, but the topic I posted in had 1 post of someone with the same problem two years ago and like my post didn't get any replies.

Did anyone ever managed to finish Jack Keane or is the Jack Keane game itself Keaning as much as it's sales? How do I get rid of this bug?

Not sure if this is the problem, but the fertilizer needs to be used with the mixing machine, and not with the flower pot itself.

I'm not sure how far I got in Jack Keane, but as for me, it committed the biggest sin a lengthy comedy game can do: it was dreadfully boring and unfunny. After I at first got bored with it, I decided that I'd muster it through with a walkthrough, but after a while, I just came into a conclusion, that I'd be rather pulling my teeth out with pliers than finishing Jack Keane.

Had Jack Keane been a movie, I'd switched it off within 10 minutes, but for some reason, I thought it would be imperative to sink a couple of hours into that mess. I guess you can't win every time.

The Keaning of Keane has come to and end, I can continue Keaning now (now that's a paradox to solve). I agree to the boredom, the game takes way too long, but the curiosity of how it will end keeps me going. Plus I had put the game on a hiatus for over a year, before picking it up again, so the boredom of the first half is largely forgotten, I'm halfway the first game now and hopefully I'll finish before boredom sets in again.

It will be a goggy achievement to actually finish Jack Keane 2. There's far more people talking about the game, than actually buying and finishing it after all.

It's not really very original nor imaginative design in either case. Years back, long before I had even heard of Jack Keane, I was contemplating of making an adventure game and the character design I did for the hero was pretty similar to both of them, blue pants and a brown vest and all. He even had a satchel slung over his shoulder.

I liked Jack Keane (the trick is to play it in German) and I finished the first game. But I don't know the specifics of that puzzle anymore.
