mechmouse: I'd love to have seen a continuation

New cast but with cameos from the originals. Also with every potential becoming a Slayer the balance of dark and light gets screwed up. We get Dark slayers, void of empathy (makes Hope look sane) and also Vampires that don't loose their soul when turned. Muddy up the good/bad narrative.
^This.

Seriously, that is the most logical solution. They even wouldn't have to change the show structure all that much - just some Slayer and her gang guarding another Hellmouth.

Oh hell no.

I am sick of these sequel, prequel, reboot, remake crap. Whatever happened to creating original content.

This show will have so much political correctness, logical inconsistencies to the point it's nauseating.

At this point, I feel only Netflix can come up with good and original shows like Stranger Things.

LootHunter: ... Hellmouth.
What's that. Another word for vagina?
nope just nope ^^
neither needs a reboot or a continuation imho. Was a series of its time but well i guess it has it's expiration day. Cant see anything good coming out of it.
But

why tho?
Just... why?

Younger viewers won't care about who Buffy was, so you could just hand them a new character. And many old fans will be enraged to see their old memories tampered with.

Why can't they just give a chance to original ideas? With this mentality, there wouldn't have been a Buffy* in the 90s in the first place.

* I know, the Buffy TV show technically was a reboot or reimagination... But it was a different kind of animal and grew to become a reference for the 1990-2000s genre shows. Although I think they tried to keep the original movie canon as much as possible.
For the why, easy money I expect. No need to do much work for a fair bit of return. It's why everything, games, films, etc. Get remastered. I don't agree with it either, but it is popular otherwise beamdog wouldn't exist would they?
I was listening to an interview this morning with a woman who wrote the 1,548th version of Beowulf.

Oh not this shit again!
I like the old show and watched it beginning to end. I am planning on giving this a chance, but why on earth is this a reboot? They spent years showing and developing Buffy's character into something that was a success . Why erase all that story for a new iteration that just might be panned instead of a entirely new character? Do they have so little confidence in the new cast that they have to bank on nostalgia to carry them through their roles?
To fix what was broken before - Buffy obviously should've been black from the start. Right?

Interestingly enough, First Slayer WAS black. But yeah, white women are too privileged by modern standards to be leaders and kick ass.
