I have two questions regarding game trading here on GOG.

First, do I have to buy games as gifts to be able to trade them?

Secondly, can I redeem one or more games that are offered here on GoG by earning xp as gifts, so I can trade them later?

I ask this because I am not interested in any of the games that are being offered at the moment and I know I won't play them.

First: Yes

Second: As long as you don't own them they will be added to your account. When you already own them, you can get a gift code instead. You can only get the free games once with one account.

Since I do not own any of the games, and if I understood you well that means they will be dead in my account.
If trade is not possible, is it possible to give'em away for free?

You can contact support and ask them to convert the games to gift codes. They will most likely oblige as long as you DO NOT attempt to DL the game installers or the extras.

In that case I will contact them, but I am afraid Spelunky will remain in my library cause I downloaded the soundtrack out of curiosity. Lesson learned!
