Hey everyone,

Unfortunately, as per the developer’s request, we will be removing the OSTs from a few Broken Sword games from GOG in the next couple days. The OSTs for Broken Sword: Director’s Cut and Broken Sword 4: The Angel of Death have so far been a part of bonus content with the respective games, but will now (most likely) be sold separately. If you’ve bought either/both of the games, the OSTs will automatically be removed as bonus content from your library and replaced by separate products.

We’re really sorry for the inconvenience!

UPDATE: We are currently working out a way of having the OSTs available on GOG as separate products.

I know you won't care, but I find this highly disrespectful. I bought a product that included the OST, taking it out afterwards should not be acceptable. Changing the product so it is sold separately from now on is one thing, retroactively deleting it from our accounts is a whole different deal. I don't even care about OST to be honest, but it sets a very ugly precedent and taints the trustworthiness of the site.

At least we got advance warning I suppose. Thanks for that.

Just checked my library - Broken Sword 2,3 and 5 didn't include soundstrack to begin with :D
So ya basically they are pulling it from the entire series

I also read that as "Current owners will get the soundtrack DLC.".

As I stated in the OP, the separate products will be added to the library of everyone who bought the games when they included the OSTs as bonus content. This'll happen over the course of tomorrow :)

As far as I know that only happens when there was content like soundtrack that GOG didn't have the rights to distribute in the first place. If the publisher thought they have the rights to the soundtrack and allowed GOG to distribute it and then the composer (or who ever holds the rights) complains and after research the publisher finds out that they don't hold the rights to it then GOG must remove it. That's simply copyright law.

This is a different case. The publisher just wants to change his business model and charge extra for the soundtrack. Which is of course within his rights for future purchases but doesn't affect old sales.

But that reminds me of something.

There were two cases where a developer removed features from a game and tried to sell the features back to the customers via DLC.

One was Dying Light but that issue has been resolved.

The other was Vertical Drop Heroes which to my knowledge is still unresolved.

@fables22: An update to the Vertical Drop Heroes situation would be nice.
