The DRM-free initiative.

We've always been on a mission to offer you games with no DRM protection whatsoever. Today, we want to start taking things a step further, help out people who bought a retail game with DRM, then ended up stuck with something rather unplayable. We can help you enjoy your favorites once again, and this time around, enjoy them DRM-free!

There are countless retail games out there that don’t work for various reasons: unsupported types of DRM, system incompatibilities, broken features. There's too many too count. Starting today, owners of several retail titles originally sold with DRM can get a digital copy of their game completely free at GOG.com: with no DRM as always, compatible with modern operating systems, and with plenty of goodies to boot.
<span class="bold">Reclaim these games, DRM-FREE:</span>

Editions released worldwide:
-S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl
-S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky
-S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat

Editions released only in CIS & Russian territories:
-Mount & Blade: Warband
-Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword
-Eador: Genesis

To reclaim your game, just use one of the keys that came with your box. You can find more detailed information on the Reclaim your games, DRM-FREE! page to see if your key is compatible and just where to go from there.

This is just the start of something much bigger. We plan to add more titles to the list in the future - it's a long and complicated process that involves negotiating with multiple parties and a scavenger hunt to retrieve forgotten key-databases - but then, we are on a mission here, we'll do whatever it takes.

I'd love to see Star Wars: Battlefront II added to the list. The game is rather unstable on modern versions of windows, for some reason, and GoG always seems to have stable games from the get-go.
I am unable to reclaim S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat as I get a "Code is invalid" message.
I just noticed a thread with people talking about redeeming Stalker games here on GOG from Steam with some confusion over whether or not it was possible. Not long ago I won Stalker: Clear Sky on Steam in a giveaway so my curiousity was just piqued as to whether or not I could redeem it here. The GOG FAQ page is at best inconclusive/vague on the topic but thanks to the various community comments in this thread I just successfully redeemed the game on GOG and I'm quite pleased to have been able to do that!

Many thanks to the various people who contributed the information in the forums here on how to properly do that, it was quite helpful!
I would like see in the list: The Neverwinter Nights: 1 and 2. This will be a success.

I hope this happen.

:D

Got some bad news for you. GoG already used to have ARMA on here, but it got removed. Not a clue why.
With any luck it`ll return to GoG though.
Really hoping more game titles from the GOG catalog get added soon!

I have tons of the older RPGS, Simulation and Strategy games on disc that I would love to reclaim on GOG. I can then actually play these games again without having to search for ways to make them run on Win7!

ArmA's multiplayer functionality used the Gamespy multi-player game matchmaking service and when Gamespy went out of business and their servers went down it effectively neutered online multiplayer in the ArmA games. While the single player game is fun, the big reason the ArmA games have remained popular for so long is their online multi-player game play. As such Bohemia removed the ArmA games from the marketplace temporarily (everywhere, not just on GOG) and re-implemented their multi-player functionality using Steamworks which at least ensures multi-player will remain active now as long as Steam continues to exist which is all around a pretty safe bet compared to using other 3rd party services.

The downside of this of course is that the games are now Steam-only because they require Steamworks for multi-player so they have not brought the games back to GOG or any other non-Steam stores as far as I'm aware. So as not to leave GOG customers in the dust with multi-player, a Steam key for the ArmA games is included in our GOG bookshelves which can be used to redeem the affected games on Steam for free, however that's only needed if one plays multi-player.

Hopefully at some point in the future they will add GOG Galaxy and crossplay support to the games and bring them back to GOG.com though.

It's also needed to use Steam if you want to play the foreign armies DLC available only on Steam.
Over two months later and I am still unable to reclaim S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat. I get a "Code is invalid" message.

where does your key come from?!
Steam

ZombieKohhi: Steam
theres no guarantee they'll work - the deal is for retail copies only. some steam installations have cd keys that are in the database, some not. they aren't retail though, so no point in complaining.
I can complain all I want. After all I did pay for the damn game.

Yes, you did. On Steam. And you got it on Steam. Everything else is a goodie without reasoning of claim. :)

(Btw. I have the same problem with my Steam copy of SoC, so you're not the only one.)
