The DRM-free initiative.

We've always been on a mission to offer you games with no DRM protection whatsoever. Today, we want to start taking things a step further, help out people who bought a retail game with DRM, then ended up stuck with something rather unplayable. We can help you enjoy your favorites once again, and this time around, enjoy them DRM-free!

There are countless retail games out there that don’t work for various reasons: unsupported types of DRM, system incompatibilities, broken features. There's too many too count. Starting today, owners of several retail titles originally sold with DRM can get a digital copy of their game completely free at GOG.com: with no DRM as always, compatible with modern operating systems, and with plenty of goodies to boot.

To reclaim your game, just use one of the keys that came with your box. You can find more detailed information on the Reclaim your games, DRM-FREE! page to see if your key is compatible and just where to go from there.

This is just the start of something much bigger. We plan to add more titles to the list in the future - it's a long and complicated process that involves negotiating with multiple parties and a scavenger hunt to retrieve forgotten key-databases - but then, we are on a mission here, we'll do whatever it takes.

My steam copies of Soc and Cop both come up as invalid. :( Really hope Gog does something for us steam users soon

INFERNO.COP: Might as well throw this in here just in case, but that's for 64 bit systems. If by some chance you're using a 32 bit one, just disregard the "Wow6432Node" since it won't be present. Also you will not only have to install the game but start it as well.
Any tips when the key there still turns as Invalid when I try to redeem it on GOG? Friends of mine confirmed it worked for them too, but for some reason it doesn't for me. Quite a bummer. :/

I followed the link. Clear Sky's Key worked, Shadow of Chernobyl's didn't. :( Just says invalid code, even when I copy directly from the registry.

Use it as a last resort option, since the wait for a response may be days from the time you open a ticket and by then it could be discovered that the issue was on GOG's end (server overload/etc.) and they may have fixed it by that time.

Thanks GOG. I'm so happy to get this game back.

Lost S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat about three years ago (due to TAGES DRM). Made a new gaming PC, and the DRM server refused to unlock the game. Hate DRM so much, and love what you are doing at GOG.com.

I'm more than certain Steam will never reply with anything useful if I message them about this. I hope it's just some temporary delay in the databases or something and will be fixed soon. I think I purchased the game on the Steam store few years back and my copy doesn't come from a Steam key so it might be a possible reason why too. Somehow a different sub ID. Overall I hope it will just fix itself in a bit, if not I will try to ask GOG about it.
