It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I was wondering what all of you thought of the new Brave Browser ... that is if you've had a chance to check it out. It actually looks sort of promising since it has a built in ad-block/anti-malware feature. I think the official version (1.0) is going to be released in early November, but I was wondering if this browser has the potential to be a Firefox killer? What are your thoughts?

* I guess it would be helpful to include a link to the browser! https://brave.com/

HereForTheBeer: I'm afraid to try it.
You're not brave enough.
I've been using it for about a month now, and so far the experience has been decent. Unfortunately they have a few bugs with flash video and certain website have login issues, but I think most of this will be fixed in the full release. Unfortunately most of the classic browsers like Firefox are moving away from freedom and privacy, so it's nice to see a reasonable alternative.

So privacy is its strength and focus. But I'm used to customization and addons/extensions - Brave doesn't seem to support it, right?

Meh. It's a browser. Not a great one, but not a horrible one either.
I've not really been interested in it. See reasons 1, 4, 6, and occasionally 5.

I'm more interested in Vivaldi, actually.

It does have extensions, and it's extremely customizable. That being said, you might have to tinker with it in order to get the look the way you like. I liked the look of the browser right after I installed it, but I did alter a few things that I didn't like.

I actually have Vivaldi installed as my backup browser. It's not bad either, but I wish I could tweak a few things.

I've used it in the past, but there was a je ne sais quoi in terms of separation from Chrome. What would you be looking to tweak?

One of the major problems I have with most browsers is the inability to turn off favicons. Unfortunately Vivaldi does not allow you to turn off favicons in your bookmarks menu (only the toolbar). It's mostly an O.C.D. thing, but I also heard that there are security vulnerabilities that have been linked to favicons. I also like to see the website tabs below the bookmarks toolbar, and the panel on the side is really annoying. I tried turning it off, but it pops back up again whenever I download a file.

Brave is still based on Chromium, though, isn't it?

Cannot help to change the position of the tabs where you like, but for the downloads panel auto-opening, it can be disabled in settings - downloads.

When the internet reared its ugly head,
This browser turned its tail and fled!
