Fraxx0r: Why do you think I suddenly started to be active on this forum after all these years of having of an account and using it? :D

I can't even remove it as many others wouldn't be able even if they would "click on it" today (you have to talk to the support in any case). Plus there is a difference between just closing of an account and asking for a right to be forgotten (where applicable). Support doesn't even bother to answer and if - once per few months. So.. I can't solve some issues I have to first before even getting to the point of closing of an account. They completely block any attempt for conversation. I want to know where they shared my data and how my data were managed before because I caught them lying and working with so many 3rd parties they never and nowhere mentioned before, which is breaking the law. Plus the all infrastructure of these services seems very problematic.

Before I would even ask for a complete data removal, I have to know what happened because there is still a risk coming from here -> they already admitted to me that some data that supposted to be removed weren't (removed on my personal request handled by 2 employees and confirmed in the past by them about it being done). So, I can't even ask for removal of my account until I will be sure it will done. I have a right to protect my data and they don't really care. This needs to be probably solved by 3rd party because they showed months of ignore and shady behaviour on that issue, which just proved it's a real problem.

Also if a company completely breaks the law and contract - which gives you reasons for boycott - you can't just close it (unless it's a real emergency which creates damage to you - well.. it will anyway). That is good for the company. They could immediately burry everything shady that went around your account, even if they wouldn't otherwise and kept those data for 6 years.

I have to keep it for now for another reasons. And even if I wanted to remove my account and data - I can't.
It's like a hostage situation.

People that have serious reasons for boycott - boycott because there is nothing else they can do and that is the problem here.
Many people are in some similiar situations - like refunds, etc...

And GOG obviously couldn't care less. Which is just further proved by how long this boycott takes a place.

Fraxx0r: Do you want to boycott GOG? It's easy. First - do not start topics about boycotting GOG on GOG forum. Second - just go away. No need of theatrical gestures, poses, and postings. Just. Go. Away.
Boycotts and protests can be done for several different reasons.
If you're simply tired and done with their shit, and don't care about them, then yes. #WalkAway.
If you still want to use them, but see they're going in the wrong direction, and you care for them, you do it publicly, or it would have no effect.
It's the apathetic ones who don't care about anything except their own convenience or self-gratification, or profit, that cause bad practices to continue. Like slave labor or pollution.. Do you think the buyers are innocent when supporting such corporations?

But where's the fun in that, mang?

Long live the brocott! ;p

Longcat: Quite. The bias is insane. Why would anyone pay GOG to be harassed?
avatar
GamezRanker: Maybe someone might be into that sort of thing? o.0 ;)

avatar
Longcat: GOG already uses users as mods without pay. They are called Watchers. Quite exploitative.

GamezRanker: (underlining mine)
That's partly what I was hinting at, actually.

Speaking of our resident troll/spammer:

I FINALLY got a reply back from the staffer I PMd.......not about the trolling/spamming, but about something much more serious........they reallllllllllllllly dislike geese, it seems(as they asked me kindly to change my avatar) :\

(won't say more on the above matter, for obvious reasons.....if anyone else wants to chat, though, my PM box is always open)
What could they possibly have against geese? o.O

7) Stop providing free games/incentives only to Galaxy users.

It's one of the perks of being a GOG user. Do you expect Valve to make Steam perks available to other platform users, too? How about Origin? Stadia? Google Play, perhaps? Hell, while we're at it, why don't we insist Apple make DMGs available to Windows users?

No it isn't, it's a perk for *Galaxy* users, from a store that used to claim that it was different from Steam.

Please tell me that you're aware GOG has a completely separate option from Galaxy which they call "backup offline installers." If you're not aware of this, I can't blame you, as this option is essentially "hidden" in comparison to the overwhelming marketing Galaxy gets as the default way of things around here.

As another user has already indicated, the Galaxy-exclusives are for Galaxy users but not accessible to those of us here who refuse to use Galaxy. Or, to put it another way, all Galaxy users are GOG users, but not all GOG users are Galaxy users. Thus, your analogy doesn't track, and the second-class treatment of offline users remains relevant.

By the way, I assume that, when it was actively running, you were vehemently against the GOG Connect program ran by GOG and through which Scheme users were able to get free GOG copies of select games?

Ramor_: GOG IS a political company and site first. Gaming platform "second" (hardly).
Sometimes I get a similar(though to a lesser degree) feeling....that GOG is being used to push some of the GOG leadership's/staff's politics, or at the very least some of the staff seem to be allowed to use GOG's releases/events/etc to push their views/beliefs.

The difference is, GOG is a DRM-free store, and that is a perk for one of their DRM-free games......."locking the perk behind a galaxy wall" seems to go against the spirit of that.

And then there's the piggyback dlc, which straight up needs a net connection to function.

GOG, are you hear me? Im boycotting you! Until you do something good with forums! Fix links and search engine! Make posting more easy without pop-ups (or new) tabs!

This is only one real issue with you, GOG!

Add my body to boycott.
And a new reason to list of offences committed: allowing titles which advertise cannibalism and pedophilia on shelves, see whole hustle/bustle here: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/discover_4_games_from_jast_683e4
Asked their support, if they at least google about games they're adding. Got no response for almost a month. Request number 1243444 .

Hi. Dropping by to see if anything has changed and if any of the issues detailed in the original post have been addressed in any way. Haven't kept up with the thread since back before holiday season and not eager to scroll through 50 pages skimming for updates.

No, the list still applies. There's been a few empty promise-words, that's all.

Actually something did change since OP. GOG have now dropped most support in favour of an automated bot, which has been a big success /sarcasm
