Ancient-Red-Dragon: I am shocked & appalled by GOG's censorship behavior which I've just described.
C'mon, are you really shocked after all the crap GOG has pulled over the years(iirc even doing so with reviews back during the Hitman GOTY issue)?

That said, I think this post of yours is very well said....+1

.Ra: Krogan's delirious damage control is hilarious.
Side note: Delirious(with John Candy) is a very good film.

Ancient-Red-Dragon: You are right. As I said in another thread:

"I saw many nonsense 5* reviews nobody cares about. Type of "gooooooooooooddddDDdd....xDDDDD"
I saw many reviews talking about a game, but not about the gameplay but just celebrating the game/company.
Reviews that are guides for a game or guides for something technical.
Reviews that are warning for something (like DRM removed, something repaired)
Reviews telling you where to get something (sort of fundamental for it to work, enjoy or some mods)
Reviews bashing other reviews (negative ones).
Reviews that are memes, jokes or just something interesting about/behind the game's existence.
Reviews that are check-boxes (memes).
All of these (mostly) 5* and often "most helpful" or on the top.

Those rules are purposely misused if they don't go as far for the made up term "review bombing". Reviews do include talking about a game, it doesn't have to be just about gameplay.
Or in this case it's a new invention and "streamline" of GOG and something very "special" (well, not that much) is going on here.

Cherry on the top are reviews from developers itself, giving themselves 5* and telling people to go on some different site.
(example:)
gog.com/en/game/mdk

This is some serious bias going on here..."

I also add that it makes a sense, since the actual rating is not the text but the amount of stars. The text is just an additional guide about your decision, which you don't even have to include. Yes, it should be about the game/developer/gameplay or at least connected, not about what you ate that day. But also you can help to others with some "must know" info. Many times I was actually happy that someone mentioned in reviews (generally) some unofficial patch that is quite "must have" and in these cases it's almost always on the top and highly rated. I knew how much they liked the game, because of the "stars" (or whatever in case of a different platform). I also check the rating itself. Sometimes I don't read them at all. Just text would be useless. Or sometimes I knew about some game-breaking bug I had to avoid, because the most rated review was about that. Or some technical problems. That would be impossible if you wouldn't be able to talk about other things than a very strict gameplay.
And it's connected anyway. The controlling idea is the "subjective" one.

I don't understand how some people don't understand that, just because companies said so, while they like to misuse that to remove negative reviews. Same as the made up review bombing nonsense. And even if they would like it in a different way and they would like to call the shots - ok - but there is serious bias going on. So, yeah.. no.

This behaviour is just censorism and actually quite false advertising and fraud.

Plus you bought the game, you should have right for a comment/review if there is the possibility without someone telling you what to say and how nice to be. You already paid. Well and even if not (there). :D

It's a bullying from GOG.
Especially when people are doing the job to warn about something that those companies !we paid! do/didn't do/broke/never finished, etc... Gaming is in miserable state milking users. Honest and uncesored (negative) reviews are the minimum people bringing the money in deserve.

Just developers have nothing to do to make reviews. In any point. Even if the game would be 50 years old and they work somewhere else.

Krogan32: Your "review" didn't even include anything about the game at all.
avatar
Ancient-Red-Dragon: Incorrect. My review was 100% about the game, as the censorship of a censored game is very much part of the essence of the product.
You've just proved that you're lying through your teeth. Typical. But, hey, thanks for proving me right that your "review"/whinge violated GoG's review policy.

Everyone knows Krogan is being protected by GOG. When I pointed it out to a moderator, he just went dead silent, and the harassment continues. Could well be a GOG employee or mod, for all we know. It's pretty fucked up, but little around here surprises me anymore.

Longcat: I am not even bothered by him as by the bias. I am not saying that all people should be more controlled and banned (but in his case it's a question). I am not looking for some overly strict rules. It brings just more subjectivity and ends up doing the opposite. But the "double-measure" is insane here and seems weaponized for some certain purposes.

No, because it violates the rules. Here's the link as you seem to not be knowledgeable of them: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/forum_regulations
EDIT: Oh, looking at your profile: zero games and created just this month. So, why are you hiding behind a blatantly obvious alt account instead of posting on your main?

Seems we hit a sore spot :)

It's pretty entertaining that someone that breaks the forum regulations more than any other user on this forum tries to lecture others on them when the snow crystal melts.

Krogan32: Ok, I will speak to you for one last time directly. And I am not joking right now.

Man, I see you need a friend and I am saying that without any malice. If I would be a person who is using a chat here, I would offer you, without any tricks, if you want to try to chat for a while and just about ourselves, not about issues here. But I don't use chats, especially in places like this. They are not private. And I would have to see that you are not going to troll me. But well.. internet is not a place for that anyway...

Once in my life I was in a positiion when I would tend to act like this and it was because I was just going through a lot of stuff alone and I tended to expect a lot of behaviour from people without even knowing them, because I was thinking that my negative experiences were "a lot of" experiences, just because they were really strong.

Even if I am not going to offer that, because I don't chat with people at all, man.. I am telling you that if there is something bothering you in your life, there are some people that would understand that. But this throwing of a glove on everyone is not going to make people around you seem less annoying to you.

To you.

I know what I am talking about.
If you are not "a moderator" (some people believe that) or some person with predefined purpose here - try to make a friend for once, no matter what they think about some specific issues. Some people here (especially) after this all knowing about you would be able to get it. At least I would...

Some people are "fun" until people realize that they are not.. that they must be going through something.

But your are on a crusade with yourself and even that doesn't make you bad. Just get over it.

People have been "there" too, you could be surprised...

Is this attempt number 10 or 11? I lost track.

Riiiiiight... a joke... hmmm. Yeah, not buying your excuse for your inability to maintain your convictions for a second.

Insults. Typical. See, you try and claim that I'm attacking you, yet you constantly attack me. Textbook example of projection. Also, we don't care about your supposed life story.
