Krogan32: Taking the opinion of one individual who felt strongly enough to leave a scathing review doesn't make it fact due to the extremely biased nature of the source.
avatar
mrkgnao: That's ok. I never for a moment thought that you'd believe me.
No, I believe that someone posted that. I don't believe that they are unbiased in their assertion. Two very different things. But, you keep on keeping on with your passive aggressiveness.
avatar
Time4Tea: It's not 'fear mongering' if it is justified. And GOG seem to be justifying it time and again. Considering GOG has lost money for the past 2 quarters, we will see how well they do by continuing down this path of embracing DRM.
avatar
Krogan32: I don't know where you are finding that information as all I could find was yearly financial statements for GoG (last one June of 2020).
For example here on page 22: https://www.cdprojekt.com/en/wp-content/uploads-en/2021/09/consolidated-financial-statement-of-the-cd-projekt-group-for-h1-2021.pdf
See here for more info: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/boycotting_gog_2021/post2924

Krogan32: However, the stock markets don't seem to be phased if GoG is having losses as it's stock is up 62.29% from the same date last year, which was the down year for them.
There is no separate stock market for GOG. And CDP stock was ~92 EUR 25.09.2020 and is now 40 EUR. This makes for a down of ~57% from same time last year.
See for example: https://www.finanzen.net/chart/cd_projekt_red

Krogan32: They're just a bunch of Steam fanbots that have come here to catch the one game on GoG that has DRM on it (yet also putting a notification of online requirement for part of the game, which is more than Steam does for their games) so they can cheerlead for Steam. It's truly pathetic and predictable.
I got 256 games here and I buy games here from 2012 even before I bought my first game on steam and I don't buy games with drm on steam and I only paid less then 10 games on steam and one of my favorite saga is hitman. What you said is BS.
Gog promise drm free, steam never did such of thing.
I always buy drm free games anyway but I don't like lies and liars so I will no longer buy games here on gog
Also there are many alternative like itch, zoom platform, humble bundle, epic, indiegala and many more that only or also sell drm free games

They didn't lie. There is a notification on the Steam page that literally states what is hidden behind the online DRM, which is the online content. Only the online content is online requirement. The main game and all of those missions are completely playable and enjoyable. Considering how insanely well this game is selling, it's clear you are in the very vocal and tiny minority.

1. The steam page is not the gog page
2. We are talking about things like rating the end mission that were offline for the hitman saga since hitman 2 silent assassin. Those thing are still tecnically offline, they just work only if you use the online version for no real reason.
3. Only 6 hours of the game are playable. 1 hour for each main mission were you cannot unlock anything and you don't even know if you got the silent assassin rating. I know because I got the game twice on steam and on epic for free and I know what is like to play this game offline/online. There is a lot (90% of the game) that should be offline but you need to be online even if it's single player content.

It's not selling well at all, look at how many people actually made a positive review and bought the game, there are less than 10 people. Most of the people that bought the game already asked for a refund.
Look at how many negative review got this game, much more than every gog game got even counting the positive one.

This also damaged gog reputation with so many people... I don't really think gog will survive, they are already losing money, with this release most gog players that got a lot of games will boycot gog.
If they don't change this is really the end of gog that will only got people like you that don't care about drm and don't like steam and epic (a tiny minority).

Why are you so obsessed with this very vocal, very tiny minority? We aren't harming you, your belief is we aren't harming GOG, so why do you care so much then?

Why are you so obsessed with posting on this forum when you've said that you are completely done with GoG?

I'm done spending money here until they start doing things right. I never said I wanted to leave the community. Your turn, since I asked you first.

I continue to be amused by these people who seem quite agitated by this thread, despite claiming that it represents the views of a 'tiny minority' who aren't going to make a difference anyway ... XD

Before you open your mouth and make a fool of yourself you really should look at the "registered" date under people's avatars. You'll notice many of the people in this thread have been around supporting gog for quite a few years.

As someone who's been here damn-near from the start of gog (look at my "registered" date) I can tell you that they DID lie. When gog started they promised no DRM, NONE AT ALL. If they had kept that promise this discussion wouldn't be happening.

Why do you guys even bother? Every single time this thread heats up because of yet another egregious fuck-up on gog's part, some mouthbreather comes along to aggressively shill for gog and attack everyone in favor of the boycott with the flimsiest arguments imaginable. I'm talking gems like "Ahahahaha, it's just one gaemz! Ahahahahaha, it's no big deal! Y U worry? Hahahahaha!" or the ever popular "If U no liek gog, Y U no stop poasting on teh forum? Y U no delet UR account?"

First it was Trevor from GTA V, then "Greetings, Phil" and now it's Yellow Avatar. Why are you unduly straining your keyboards replying to these nonentities?

So, you want to mooch the GoG services but not purchase their products. Typical.

Whoever said I was agitated? I find you all quite pathetic in your group hysteria and fear mongering. But, that seems the norm now-a-days.

No matter how many times you tell yourself that it doesn't make it true.

Seeing how he owns more than twice as many games here as you do, I think you'd better go on one hell of a shopping spree before you accuse paladin of "mooching" :D

Ahh... elitism. Sorry I don't spend every single dime of my money on games like some.
