It was exceptionally nice compared to most of the sales in recent times from them. And yeah sure a sale is always "here are some discounts buy our shit." Don't be mistaken GOG is a company trying to sell shit not trying to be our best buddy in the living room showing you the latest and greatest, and "selling" it to you for a special friendship price.

For lack of a better phrase, you're right on the money with that. Sales had more oomph when TeT was still around. After he left sales have been the same cookie cutter bullshit that you see now. The Sales and Marketing dept lacks the imagination and is probably lazy as hell to boot. There just isn't a push to try anything original anymore sales-wise.

On a related note, today's GOG weekly sale begins with "As they say – desperate times call for desperate measures".

Well, I would prefer the 'desperate measure' of returning to their DRM-free core principle and starting to talk with their customers again. Instead of silence, lies and just some sales.

And yet they still haven't released Devotion. :(

Selling Detention would be a good start, considering the only DRM-free alternative (on Playism) won't be available for much longer.

Made another step by deleting my GOG wishlist and replacing it with one on IsThereAnyDeal, where I will be able to get notified of sales on other sites too. Also added a few games not available on GOG.

I'm not sure I'll buy anything elsewhere anytime soon, but perhaps when something pops up at a very low price (e.g. humble bundle), the kind that's hardly ever seen on GOG.

Not that desperate, of course.

Side note, gotta love all the defenders on there who think this is a reportable offense.

Yeah jackass, we're the spoiled crybabies. Not the people who get harmless games that nobody's forcing them to play pulled just by getting all their no-life friends and crying about it.

That's true, but to be honest, in this case I actually prefer the new, "boring" way. I hate sales with gimmicks. "Here are some discounts, look through them all, take your time and choose the best way to spend your money" is how it should be. Not "buy fast, the discount is running out!" or "buy random packs of who knows what!". Screw that.

Also, guys, I'm sorry but the whole thing with "oh, a nice discount, that means GOG must be totally desperate now!" is... well, I think "reaching" is putting it mildly.

I doubt GOG is desperate in any way, but I do think nice shiny sales will distract customers from issues they might have with the paltform and get them to reach again into their wallet.
