I'm still astonished that GOG and the Board of Directors ignoring every single message where GOG customers/gamers ask for Devotion to be added to the store, and for GOG to tell the truth about what caused this fiasco. Customers shouldn't have to go to this much effort in order to get GOG and the Board of Directors to tell the truth.

To those who mistakenly say GOG have responded to Devotion: GOG haven't. They just lied and said "gamers" asked them to remove the game (with no indication of how those invisible gamers did so), even though their customers are all gamers and keep requesting the game.

It strikes me that it's possible to make profit and be ethical; it's also possible to make poor ethical choices (e.g. censoring something that isn't breaking any laws) and still be honest about it. Acting like dicks AND lying to the customers you claim to respect is what is so irritating. For example, the GOG site says they will respond to their customers on social media, then they have ignored thousands of comments and questions about it, adding further insults to their original dishonesty and rude silence.

I haven't bought anything since then. They turned me from a loyal customer who went there daily and bought more games than they needed, into someone who refunded an order and never visits the site to browse games any more.

Not sure how to interpret your comment but the board of directors are pretty much the same people who are the founders, the biggest shareholders and the biggest managers of CDP - or at least closely related. Basically those few people have control of the company.

And I think they are ignoring customers because they believe those customers would then leave (or boycott) them later anyway when the kind of business plans that I think they have manifest more.

fronzelneekburm: Damn, Huehueland gets *really* good prices!
I admit we do. Games cost a lot less for us because of how much it would take from the average income if we were to buy the same games an average american or european customer does. The end result for most would be simply "It is so expensive I will resort to piracy".

Also, before Covid my country's currency was in a bad position but now it is at its worst ever. It makes sense that they had to lower prices for us; a customer that pays little is still better than one that either pirates or decide to do without a game.

I hope South America gets into such a good economic position where I will gladly pay as much as any european. Until then I will, (well I would if not for the boycott,) at least enjoy the little benefit regional prices gives me.

fronzelneekburm: And on that note, if I see a bro getting low rated by butthurt gog cultists/apologists/fanbois, I hit the little green + button. It's just common courtesy! :)
That is great and I have been doing the same whenever I notice someone saying the uncomfortable truths (very often in this thread, thankfully) that those fanbois don't want to see.

Arsen7: So, please add me to the boycotters' section! I still have some money on my GOG wallet, and I will probably spend them, but I won't be making any recharging nor any real money purchases. Not for the year. Until GOG convinces me that they still care for the values that brought me here. Howgh! You have my word.
Will do. Thanks for your post!

Arsen7: Ah, now I understand why I was seeing very reasonable posts made by people with negative reputation!

After the fall of the communism in Poland, being imprisoned by the previous regime was a mark of honour. So, wear your low score with pride! ;)

WeirdoGeek: Honestly, I can see these downvotes being the handiwork of a certain group...
It seems to be people who are awake while I am asleep. In which case, I will have to assume they are ... children of the night? Yeah, it's not as if i really care about some fake internet rep points anyway. If that's the best you can do ... knock yourselves out, CCP trolls :-P

I have also started upvoting anyone who seems sensible who is getting downvoted.

I think the going premise is they need new customers via scandal advertisement and try to move along the old who have completed all the purchases they are likely to buy so they don't have the operating cost to support them.

The problem is the ones they are trying to move along cling like rust to their website (& no doubt reddit etc.) making GOG seem like a bunch of old dinosaurs who don't give a toss about everything they once stood for like they have some form of corporate dementia.

Yup, and Xi probably got flooded by "Xinnie the Pooh" memes as soon as the cancellation was announced. Like he probably did the first time "many gamers" clamored to get this game pulled.

I really, REALLY don't know what people expected to happen when they rekindled this sorry "controversy".

I see gog are still craven cowards who won't release a game and blame it on their customers in an effort to twist their own cowardice into a "pro-consumer" move.

To be honest, I do find the whole thing rather offensive. For Winnie the Pooh that is.

True, Winnie-the-Pooh was one of the true victims here. Also Christopher Robin, who vanished, never to be seen or heard again in mainland China.
I see "many gamers" are still on call to downvote posts calling to reverse the decision and I also see that GOG's Twitter is still exclusively doing replies that allow them to be everyone's cool dad as opposed to finally giving us an answer.

Because memes are stupid and I will never take anyone who uses them like this seriously

I mean this is the rallying cry against the evil Xi and CCP, dressing up like Winnie the fucking Pooh. And inadvertently giving some kind of advertising money to fucking Disney.
