MarkoH01: ... I am well aware that AMDs are faster nowadays but then again, I don't need extremely fast - I only ned fast enough for 1080p/60fps. So far I managed to get those with nearly every game except for Mass Effect: Andromeda ... with the new CPU this is also running well :) Also, I am still running Win7 and dislike Win10 which would/will one day also be a problem whenever I would HAVE to use Win10 since afaik newer AMDs are not supported by Win7. A bit more speed with not too much investment and effort - that was all I was aiming for and I am pretty happy with what I got.
Ryzen works fine with Linux... Just saying. :D
I was in the same boat as you, regarding OS and hardware upgrades. Tried Windows 10, didn't like it, switched to Linux Mint and, after some initial difficulties, no longer have any interest in MS Windows whatsoever. Got all the important software I need, and even PC gaming on Linux works much better than I expected.
Just something to consider, if you need a new PC at some point, and don't want to use Windows 10.
