With Kickstarter beta access on GOG.com!

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is becoming one of the biggest, most successful Kickstarter campaigns in history.

Straight from the under the watchful eye of Koji Igarashi, one of the godfathers of the genre, comes the newest exploration-focused, side scrolling platformer with RPG and crafting elements. In short, it's shaping up to be the biggest Metroidvania release in recent memory - already surpassing its original Kickstarter goal by sixfold. As of right now that is.

We're huge fans of IGA and Castlevania, so when we heard that Koji Igarashi was returning to the genre we knew we wanted to work with the team to play our part in getting this amazing spiritual successor out there, completely DRM-free, with our signature kind of customer love.

That's why we're excited to announce that we'll be supporting the upcoming release with DRM-free versions to all Kickstarter backers of the game pledging $28 or more!

Everyone who backs the project at the $60 tier (or higher) will receive not only a DRM-free digital copy of the game, but also exclusive backer-only content and access to the beta, all right here on GOG.com.

You can make your pledge over on Kickstarter, and stay tuned for future backer updates with more details on how to get started with your access to the beta.

Maybe i'm paranoid but every time i see a kickstarter campaign from Japan it's a clusterfuck and there's bullshit excuses galore, shame since they make an awful lot of great games.

Well, it's either no demo (beta) on GOG, or GOG having to introduce a system that makes sure you can't play the demo (beta) after the appointed period.
I'm sure a lot of people here prefer the former.

I'm not familiar with the specifics, but GOG has 'in dev' games, I'm not sure how this is any different?

As with the previous demo, I assume they only want it to be available during a specific window.

They seem to have been making a rather consistent stream of mistakes, recently.

Yeah, is does rather seem they promised a bunch of things without really locking it down. For example, as much as I blame IntiCreates for refusing to do a DRM-free version they shouldn't really have had the option. IGA/Artplay/505/whoever really should have specified in the contract.

They are dodgy. Iga/Artplay/505 are guilty because they support Inti-Creates.

So close, now, almost close enough to forget how long this game has actually been in development.

It never does due to simple reason - the wait itself make game seems better than it would be perceived if its been annouced normally with normal wait. Game is destined for low ratings because wait will make expectation higher the longer you wait.
