With Kickstarter beta access on GOG.com!

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is becoming one of the biggest, most successful Kickstarter campaigns in history.

Straight from the under the watchful eye of Koji Igarashi, one of the godfathers of the genre, comes the newest exploration-focused, side scrolling platformer with RPG and crafting elements. In short, it's shaping up to be the biggest Metroidvania release in recent memory - already surpassing its original Kickstarter goal by sixfold. As of right now that is.

We're huge fans of IGA and Castlevania, so when we heard that Koji Igarashi was returning to the genre we knew we wanted to work with the team to play our part in getting this amazing spiritual successor out there, completely DRM-free, with our signature kind of customer love.

That's why we're excited to announce that we'll be supporting the upcoming release with DRM-free versions to all Kickstarter backers of the game pledging $28 or more!

Everyone who backs the project at the $60 tier (or higher) will receive not only a DRM-free digital copy of the game, but also exclusive backer-only content and access to the beta, all right here on GOG.com.

You can make your pledge over on Kickstarter, and stay tuned for future backer updates with more details on how to get started with your access to the beta.

XombieMike: ...
My view: both are very good services but I buy from GOG because, basically, I want to support competition with Steam and I want to be able to play without Internet or having to use extra software to play. :)

I won't get dragged into that argument because it's been done plenty before.
Well, a lot has transpired since the last I wrote here. I have a good bit of GOG games now. Very pleased. Also, I'm writing this from Galaxy.

The forums I run for Bloodstained are now official. Fangamer and Playism are involved daily. We have 675 members and growing. I still get the impression that the forum leans heavily towards Steam. Our prize give aways usually involve Humble Bundle deals which are usually Steam titles as well. I really would like to get some GOG prizes flowing there though, but they are a bit too expensive for me to personally buy and give away like the humble bundle stuff.

Is it ok to post links here to the other forums? I would also like to link here from our community thread if this is the place to talk about Bloodstained. Will Bloodstained get it's own sub board when the game comes out, or is this thread it?

I advertized the current D&D deal on FaceBook and the Bloodstained forums. I personally bought that and love those games.
The survey has been officially announced for 15 September.

XombieMike: Is it ok to post links here to the other forums?
Yes, it should be OK, but the problem is, that your current rep (reputation) is a bit low, which prevents one from posting links at all (an anti-spam measure). You'll need 5-10 in order to be able post links, so I suggest you post here for about a week and you should be good to go.

You can choose to create your own thread if you so wish. This is only a thread that announces that Bloodstained will (eventually) be released here.

XombieMike: Will Bloodstained get it's own sub board when the game comes out, or is this thread it?
As I said above, this thread was created only to announce the eventual release of Bloodstained. There will be more threads created for it (like a release thread and possibly a preorder one). There will also be a subforum dedicated to the game, as is the case for all other games in the catalog. For instance, is the subforum of Planespace: Torment. You can search for more subforums by going [url=http://www.gog.com/forum]here, and typing the name of the game you want at the Game specific forums' search field. You can also visit a game's subforum by going to your account, clicking the box for the game in question, clicking the "More" button and then "Forum".

If you pledged for the game, you might want to check the e-mail associated with your Kickstarter account for the survey.
Sorry for the necro, but I received an e-mail from Fangamer:
We were recently informed that the Bloodstained Retro spin-off game will not be available on GOG. Please select a different platform (Steam, PS4, XB1, PS Vita, or Nintendo Switch) for your Retro spin-off game before the May 18th 2018 platform-selection deadline by clicking the "Access Your Backer Survey" button below, then clicking the "Change Your Survey Answers" link.

By default, your Retro spin-off game platform has been changed to Steam.

Keep in mind that this does not affect your choice of platform for the main game Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, which will still be available on GOG. We apologize for the trouble.
So, it seems that GOG rejected the "retro spin-off" of Bloodstained (Kickstarter stretch goal).
And i was hoping it was good news that it was about to come out....

GOG you great pillocks. This probably means there will be no DRM-free version of the spin-off. =/

I've created a wishlist entry for the spin off game: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/bloodstained_retro_spinoff_game

You'll notice that no part of the e-mail he got mentioned why the game will not be available here. He's only assuming that GOG rejected it. And while that wouldn't necessarily be an entirely unwarranted assumption, there could be other shenanigans at play on the part of the developer and/or publisher.

Also may have been part of the agreement with Valve.
And here I was, hoping I wouldn't have to install steam. If this doesn't change, I might as well set both to steam, as I do prefer to have everything in one place.
And here I thought there was going to be some good news in my email about this game this morning....
Backers (including me) have been asking for an explanation and a DRM-free alternative in the Kickstarter comments. No answer yet.

if this is true, then why do I have the option for a code for the retro spin off on GOG in my backerkit which only was added as a option just a few weeks ago? I mean it would be silly to host the game for backers but not make it avalible for sale.

it is, can't remeber if I got a date yet but it's definetly coming very soon.

Yes, and if you read my wishlist entry you'll see that I account for that possibility.

I have no idea how recent that email is, I'm not a backer so I was just hoping to buy it when it came here. I'll be pretty disappointed if I can't buy the spin off game.

Cheers. If you haven't already, can you cross-post the wishlist entry to the comments? Hopefully it'll get votes there and it's possible someone from the project will see it.

Son of a bitch, just checked my survey and they removed the GOG option for the retro spin off. GOG please get your heads out of your asses please.
