I don't really have much to say in response, other than that you bring up some good points as usual and I agree that blind trust in GOG (or anything, really) would be silly.

Store credit is only given to customers paying more than the US price.

Russia (for example) pays on average 67% less than the US (on 1140 GOG games). China (for example) pays on average the same as the US. That's a 203% difference.

These are just two isolated examples. The full "matrix" of regional pricing is outlined in table VIII.

Oh. Well in that case it's not so much China paying more as it is Russia paying less, right? If China's prices are the same as the US's, then they would still be what they are now without regional pricing.

There is nothing sacred about the US price. It's just an arbitrary value.

You might think that Russia (and Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, etc.) is paying less. I believe everybody else is paying more.

This is going dangerously close to the Einstein's Theory of Pricing Relativity. As we all know Money = Time, and time is relative. We're dealing with pricing dilation here, caused by economy in different countries moving at different speed.

There is also Shroedinger's Uncertain Value Principle to consider - You can never be sure how much something is worth until you buy it, and said value is always relative to the observer.

The thing you have to keep in mind is that if we're talking about who is paying more or paying less as a result of regional pricing, we have to use the US price as our reference point because that's what everyone was paying before regional pricing was introduced. China's prices, if they're the same as the US ones, were unaffected by regional pricing. They aren't paying more as a result of it, and thus aren't given store credit. Some countries had their prices go up because of regional pricing, meaning they pay more because of it, and those customers do get store credit. Russian prices went down, so those customers pay less and benefit from regional pricing.

So my original statement is still accurate: GOG does give customers the difference in store credit if regional pricing causes them to pay more. Though for added clarity I guess that could be changed to "if regional pricing causes them to pay more than they would have before regional pricing was introduced".
