petitmal: Since when does Blizzard actually care for games, gaming and gamers?
avatar
Elenarie: Since always. Too bad nolifers are drowning in their hate to be able to see further than their nose.
avatar
Elmofongo: Wait people actually CARES about online multiplayer in Blizz games?
avatar
Elenarie: they have the most popular online games, what the hell are you talking about?
avatar
IwubCheeze: I can understand the pessimism but geez, calm down already. Remember several months back when people were harping on Bethesda for being married with Steam and they would never come to GOG? Look how that turned out. Wouldn't it be more logical to wait and see what Blizzard does first, actually SEE the results first and THEN respond?

Or is frothing at the mouth and filling your posts with as many "f" words as possible all the rage whenever someone mentions Blizzard?
avatar
Elenarie: Internet brainiacs feed on hate and stupidity. Let them have their fun.
So you had you fun, now?

If you wouldn't need to feed your hate frustration you would acknowledge the FACT that Blizzard's support is lousy. The hardware they sell to protect your account is never available. I could go on the list is without end.

Like I said; great games; terrible company.
Unless we're talking about "redrawing" the sprites, thus getting rid of the "everything looks tiny at resolutions higher than 640x480" issue, I don't see the point. Crossing fingers this exactly what they intend to do, but...

Dear Blizzard - instead or "restoring classic games", why don't you revive (or just release it "as is") that one game you ALMOST finished. WarCraft Adventures.
There's even a bloody walkthrough video on youtube, the game was pretty much done. Don't tell me you've lost the art assets and the code, I won't believe it.

Maighstir: If the installers are pulled off the site and activation servers are taken offline, at least those of us that had already downloaded the installers will have them archived, the keys will still activate offline, and the singleplayer and LAN modes will still work.
avatar
P1na: And spawn installs! Are spawn installs available on those DRM-free installers like they were with the CDs? Not that I ever used them, as I don't do multiplayer, but it's interesting now that I think about it.

From free spawn installs to forced battlenet, you sure have changed Blizzard.
I don't think they are available, but I don't remember with certainty.

That's what I've been saying for years now. As a big fan of point & clicks I'd love to play that game. I was so hyped about it years ago before they cancelled it. I'd be happy if they made it available even as it is, unfinished. It would still be an interesting look at what might have been.

I know it's cruel, but here's a video of someone playing it to the end:

I've read all the articles (that were still printed on paper) about the game when it was announced and couldn't believe, that they scrapped it. This was the death of the olf and great Blizzard North more or less, I guess.

It seems to be flying around somewhere in the depths of the interwebs.

I intentionally never watched the whole thing, in hopes I would one day have a chance to play it myself. I know it will never actually happen, but I can hope nonetheless.

Same here.

Hope dies last, but in the end ... it dies.
Awesome!

KingofGnG: Blasphemy! Compared to Diablo II, DIII is a damn toy for the Facebook generation. Which doesn't know shit, really. There is no planning, no satisfaction for building your personal character, plus the story and the atmosphere (especially music) are sub-par compared to Diablo II. You enter a fucking on-line server (if your connection is stable enough, and lately I had serious issues on that), you kill some crap for half an hour and you have completed your mission. What a load of shit.
That's like, your opinion, man !
Insulting a whole generation is a pretty dumb thing to do, you know. And i'm not a youngster, i'm 33 years old, have started playing games on my Amstrad-cpc 64 so...yeah.

D3 is really enjoyable. There is planning, you can't switch build or items during a greater rift. The story is better than Diablo2's (which really wasn't anything special). Diablo was the best game of the 2 imo...better atmosphere, better design and better music too.
I don't get your last sentence. kill some crap for half an hour and complete your mission ? What's that supposed to mean, it works exactly the same way as diablo 2 EXCEPT it has more objectives, more game modes and things to do. There's even more crafting. You can craft legendary items, some of them being BiS and requiring boss farming.
I'm guessing you tried D3 for 10 minutes, decided in your tiny brain that you didn't like it, and never played it again.

nightcraw1er.488: whack a widescreen mod on it, then resell it for vast amounts of cash again, whilst linking them all up to the real money auction houses and drm riddled software.
I fear this honestly... They've said publically that Diablo 2 SHOULD have been always-online-drm'd but a lot of people had dial-up and it wasn't feasable at the time... Not that people didn't download their demo/beta (to test their new multiplayer servers) at 200+Mb when it came out that took a week or something to get...

As far Starcraft (the original) There's already supposedly a mod that remakes all the old Starcraft/Broodwar levels and incorporates it into the SC2 engine... Meaning they probably won't bother with Starcraft...

Don't bother with cavemen and nolifers.

Yes you are. :P
Maybe something to comment on. TotalBiscuit has said that Blizzard does something basically insane for their games; Namely when they put a game out they are competing with themselves, and often cannibalize their previous titles. Those that played Warcraft games leave to play the newer Warcraft or WoW, Starcraft usually leaves to play Starcraft 2, and all their older titles tend to immediately become obsolete rather than playing nicely. Maybe it has to do with technology, older hardware making some games harder to get working, or more so it's people want to play the newer game and just lose interest in the old game(s). I mean, when's the last time anyone played Rock&Roll Racing? Or BlackThorne? Few play Diablo 1, Diablo 2 is still fairly played often (Maybe due to the DRM nature of Diablo 3), and Starcraft 1 last i heard is VERY popular in Korea... but not so much in the US anymore.

rtcvb32: snip
I'm happy to go play WC3 whenever I feel like it. I've never touched WoW and never will; so, just because I like the oldie, doesn't mean I'll have a shred of interested for the MMO just because it's 'Warcraft'.
Knowing Blizzard, they'll probably completely mess up these restorations by removing loved features, over emphasizing towards ladder based gameplay, and putting in unnecessary ball-and-chain Battlenet.

...I'd imaging that porting to a platform like Unity that would allow mobile versions to be made quite easily factors into it too...
