blotunga: I just hope they won't turn it into a MMO
Why when they have Diablo 3?

And Blizzard has been hiring people to work on supporting their older games and MABYE somehow get games like Diablo 1 and Warcraft 1 and 2 to come here.

Licurg: Seriously ? The always-online DRM doesn't bother you ?
avatar
Elmofongo: I was hoping you elaborate on the gameplay side, not the DRM side.
Given what they've done that's enough. :P

You can only play SC 2 off line as a 'guest'. And needing to shop on Blizzard to get the best items on D3 is a joke. (or did they finally get rid of that?)

johnnygoging: perhaps I shall try again to build a gumby necromancer.
avatar
KiNgBrAdLeY7: By any chance, do you mean FISHYMANCER, sir??? =3
no I meant a necromancer that specialises in golem. clay golem, specifically. 20 clay golem, 20 golem mastery. 20 ce I guess.

I didn't do the ce when I did it. I didn't do poison dagger either. my aim was for a melee gumby build. gumby would do CC, and then I would go toe to toe with the super-slowed enemies. I eventually ran into to AR problems in nightmare because I didn't use poison dagger because I didn't want to use a dagger.

Ah, sorry, i never used Golem-mancer so i wasn't familiar with new season's term. Apologies. Synergies are good, though and even if the old Blood Golem + Iron Maiden trick doesn't work (since ages ago), golems are a great sidekick. Especially a good unique or set converted into iron golem!

yeah the blood golem iron maiden thing doesn't work anymore. they got rid of that in 1.08 I think? don't recall now.

They did got rid of it, LOOOOOONG Ago.

Diablo 3 is much more balanced now. No Pay to Win Bullshit.

rampancy: More details here: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2016/03/11/diablo-2-update/

"The biggest boon of this seems to be for Mac players, as the announcement on the Battle.net forum says that, “you can finally retire those old Mac PowerPCs. Included with the update is a shiny new installer for OSX.” This fixes a problem where Diablo II would no longer work on any version of MacOSX after 10.7 Lion, which much like the last game update was released in 2011."

That's crazy. That means that they went back and rewrote all of the old OS X PPC code (dating back to when PPC G4s and G3s were in Macs) for OS X x86, which...which is practically unheard of nowadays. The last company that I remember ever doing such a thing was Aspyr many years ago during the x86 transition -- and only because the sole guy responsible for the PPC Mac port did the Universal Binary patch in his spare time. Wow. Just wow.

And to think they're likely doing that for the original StarCraft too...
only for that I have to buy diablo II. Blizzard deserve my money for their mac support

tinyE: Now I just have to figure out how to get to the damn patch. :P I really don't want to have to log onto Blizzard.
Hey tinyE, the offline patch has gone live:
LODPatch_114a.exe (blizzard.com)

Have fun!
Is there any chance to see Diablo & Diablo II on GOG? Or other Blizzard games like The Lost Vikings, Blackthorne, Warcraft, Starcraft?

might as well ask for halo 1 and 2 and the half life series while you are at it

in other words less then absolute none

Elmofongo: You can still play the Campaign of Starcraft 2 offline.
True, but you can’t even play a simple skirmish offline! Or play with friends through LAN!
And what I’ve tried of the campaign thus far (a couple missions from the base game and each expansion) is not even that compelling…

No way, I’m sticking to my good old StarCraft + Brood War.

They always support Mac. In fact, all of theirs games were released on Mac same day as Windows (native versions).
And they do it themselves. They don't outsource it to other companies to port theirs games.

This is something, other big companies should learn from Blizzard.
