Blade Runner is one of the best, if not the best adventure game made in the 90's. Sadly though, despite it runs perfectly well under modern OS's, it might be up to licensenses why it hasn't been released. I do wonder who even owns the game rights, considering the overall rights for Blade Runner the movie were a mess back in the 90's, so I wouldn't be surprised if the game licensing is owned by some other party.

On a side note, while the game does look pretty good, it would be nice to see those backgrounds and game cinematics rendered in full HD glory. And as the characters were done with voxels, it would be nice to see them done with more detailed 3D as well.

Still, it's a great game as is and if you ever get a change to play it, I can fully recommend it. It even has pretty modern approach on adventure game design, as there's no typical adventure game traps in it.

Fairfox: Nao that's a bold claim! Still, opinions, eh.
Just bold? That's an understatement.
I mean yes, Blade Runner was good, but... the 90s were like, ONLY THE GOLDEN AGE OF ADVENTURE GAMES. :D I can think of more than two dozen titles that are better than just good! And that's without refreshing my memory by googling some more.

Fairfox: Eeeehehe, yar, I was trying to be diplomatic! Imma not the hy-ugest fan of adventure/point 'n' click games in general, but as I wrote earlier, altho I likes Blade Runner as a game, it's moar the atmosphere of teh filmie/world it evokes (which is amaze), not the actual gameplay which is adequate/fun but nothing too-too spesh outside of t'other.

Good game, great if you liek the film but that's it.
Yes, the atmosphere is definitely the best part of the game.

Fairfox: To meee, as a non-hy-ge adventure peep, all of these are comparable if you remove teh atmosphere part of Blade Runner and just go with teh gameplay. Bladey isn't a trad. point 'n' clicker and teh branching isn't very good.
there was an elvira game ? not only that but 2 ?

BrandeX: Do we have classic games on GOG that use their original installers?
Well there you are. It would use a GOG installer, that aside there is one someone made for installing the disc version too. Lots of old games use 16 bit installers that don't run on modern OS's, while the games themselves are just fine. This is notthing special.
Ok I thought you suggested the retail version works without problems on modern Windows, as-is. Naturally if the game would get a GOG treatment, it would use a similar solution as that page you linked.

BTW that page has a link to some German site which is supposed to have the installer and also some HDFRAMES.DAT file, but I can't get to that page. Does it work for you?

Fairfox: Yar. 2 is great! Horror which is scaaary (think Waxworks. Same company) but they're awesome-sauce. Clunky nowadays, but great graphics 'n' gameplay if you cans get into teh mindset. This isn't even getting into teh Elvira 'Arcade' game (not act. arcade, just teh name. T'was a platformer).
hmm might be worth looking in to as i am a horror buf
