Cadaver747: My point exactly, this game is not available unless you do the digital download from some very bad sites.

tfishell: I wouldn't say "abandonware" or piracy sites are automatically "very bad", when they preserve games like this.
I don't find them bad, it's just a figure of speech. Even now i pirated some unavailable games, for instance lately i illegally played Dune 2, Shrak for Quake and Chasm: The Rift.
Of course i'll buy them here digitally (or Steam and then here) if the stars will align.

Cadaver747: I accidentally forced my animal to eat his shit (i just pet him), he (it) then decides to throw it around and people started to dance around it and pray. That was unexpected to say the least.

I don;t remember the issues that I had with the game. I just remember having them. I never could get anything done in it though. Loved the concept.

Sorry for offtop, but regarding Chasm: The Rift - wasn't this "beefed" version (adjusted to modern systems, due to its rather picky nature, even with DosBox) "released" in the internet by former developer of Chasm? I know that it's not automatically means that it's legal to download it, but it's usual scheme that former developer is releasing for free some if his game(s) - such as Dink Smallwood, S.W.I.N.E etc.

As far as i know Chasm wasn't released for free. Original developers showed zero interest in releasing the game anywhere, probably they don't have the source code as well.
There were two projects to sourceport it, only one project is more or less active called "PanzerChasm", latest version 0.3 (Google it if you are interested). It runs smoothly, about 120 FPS, a few files required from original game, music doesn't work, some intro speech is missing.
A few minor bugs here and there: gibs physics not accurate, level 15 can't be completed due to missing switch for raising platform, level 16 ending has no camera switch to the Time Judge, enemies shoot rockets with no auto aim seeking (they always fly straight), zombies can be killed without beheading and are much slower to react, Alien Captain shoot single blaster instead of rapid fire, Sphinx's sarcophagus destruction have issues (it will kill the player unless he escapes within a short period of time to teleporter), lastly OpenGL lighting maps are f@cked up (i prefer Software mode). Even on hard difficulty PanzerChasm is way too easy.
So if you know something about free release of Chasm: The Rift please do tell me.

As for the DOSBox the game is runnable on my old machine with 60 FPS (CPU = max cycles, UNIVBE 5.1). All you need to do is to patch it first, however for many users patches don't patch it properly (error 200) in that case you need to manually edit one file or you can download it already edited. If you are interested i can give you all info you need to run that game under DOSBox.

I have been longing to see Black and White on GOG. There is a community wishlist page for it with over 30K user votes.

Would love to play it again on updated hardware, and maybe even in a more stable state. For the time being there is no way of knowing if or if not Black and White will become available on GOG any time soon. Best thing you can do is vote and see what happens next, sadly.

Maybe contacting Microsoft would do some good?....

I;m kidding of course. We have large blocks of their IP space blocked for abuse for years now with dead silence from them on reports:

What gets me is that over the years, Microsoft has silently sold the rights to many of their previously published games without as much of a peep. This makes me wonder if the rights to the Terminal Engine developed games (Hellbender, Fury³, et al) were sold to a man who wears a Cuckoo clock for a hat.

As it's been quite a shock when suddenly Impossible Creatures or Close Combat suddenly shows up here. A pleasant shock, but a shock nonetheless.

Ouch, I've checked in home this "version" (named "Chasm Portable") and it turns out that it was just packed original Chasm with some configs allowing to deal with framerate issues in higher screen res. + some stuff like soundtrack, scans of box etc). Guy in readme has written that he only collected it and packed into one.

Sorry, for this false info, Chasm "Portable" was originally released on one "blog-esque" website (plus guy from readme had "slav" name & surname), which turned me into wrong assumption (such games as Lode Runner Online had their "freeware release" on various "blog-sites").

BTW - thanks a lot for info, I can use ready "tweaks" from Chasm Portable on my copy, but maybe I'll try your method with "vanilla" version of Chasm I own, but rather for curiosity.
