IRON MAIDEN METAL MYTHOS by Razorfist:

Having been lucky enough to have seen all these bands live in concert, I have to give JP the edge in for best show. Overall rating however would be Sabbath>Priest>Motorhead>Iron Maiden (live Maiden was pretty kick-ass too). Nothing, but nothing is better than this

I use to think Judas Priest was the heaviest band I could see and I wouldn't be wrong. That was until Manowar came to town. Two full hours of the loudst heaviest music I have ever experienced in my life. Absolutely fucking brilliant. As much as I respect some bands, Iron Maiden, Motorhead and Sabbath will never match up to a live concert monster like Manowar. That was one hell of an experience.

I must agree. I heard many bands but there is nothing like Manowar and no one like Eric Adams.

About NWOBHM. There is/was to many great bands to choose from this "big 4", but the best of them all, for me, is Judas Priest and Saxon ;)

Judas Priest and Saxon I adore, I have the pleasure of seeing them both live (and seeing Priest next month) but in all honesty I always preferred Def Leppard out of the NWOBHM bunch. They were the only one who really adapted with the times without failing miserably... whilst almost killing themselves in the process. People tend to give them a lot of stick but I think they're a lot more creative and better song writers than the Big 4.

Iron Maiden (I know, most are the same, but still... well, except for when Blaze was Dicko MKII. Good voice, just not Iron Maiden style.)
Judas Priest.
Motorhead \m/.
Black Sabbath (until Changes gets played, then screw that for a game of metal!!).

Changes is a wonderful song.

I never really was into Def Leppard. In my country they're more known as hair/glam/MTV metal band.
Maiden
Sabbath
Priest
Motorhead (will leave something below for the why)

Extra bonus, something from Alice Cooper from the times when he actually sang so damn well:

Yeah that is a weird misconception because they were more successful in America. But believe it or not Def Leppard were the second biggest selling NWOBHM band next to Iron Maiden. The difference with between the two is that Def Leppard had more '70s rock influences like Mott The Hoople and Thin Lizzy and the style of writing is not exactly what most people know heavy metal for.

But some people forget that heavy metal is not just super fast songs with lengthy guitar solos. They might not be the heaviest but the most certainly pack a punch or two live believe me.

Didn't know about this, but I heard some of the older song from them. Not really my style, still - I like songs like "Let it Go" and "Mirror, Mirror" :)

I feel you. I myself prefer more hard rocky sounding heavy metal.
Fuck 'em all.

Put on some Ministry or Skinny Puppy.
