We're holding a Contest to celebrate the new free Couple Update from Haven.

You can now choose between different couples, and it comes with new models, new actors, gendered lines, new assets and more!

To join our Contest, simply comment on the forum, what your favorite video game pair is and why.

We will pick 3 of the best entries and reward them with a key for Haven!
Atrus and Catherine from the MYST series (and books). Though often apart, they work well together and have been through a lot.
The Prince and Farah in Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.

Even after dozens of playthroughs through the years, there is still a lot of charm in their back-and-forth. A strong impression left by a game depicting only a day. Unfortunately neither sequels were as good in this regard.
Heh, kept putting off replying here because I wanted to write a proper message and the deadline just passed. But problem is that it's hard to think of games where relationships struck me as particularly memorable, sadly. Out of those I played, maybe thinking a little of Rinoa and Squall, but it'd fall under "because I have to".
What I'd have wanted to write about was Kerrigan and Jim Raynor though. There are things to say about it in the first StarCraft and Brood War too, but that's mainly based on how it goes in StarCraft 2, which I just watched let's plays of. Now it is mostly thanks to Kerrigan, which I still say is one of the best characters in gaming, Jim largely being a trope, but it works well, enhances even Kerrigan, and pretty much defines Jim and gets him a little out of that trope he otherwise fits so well, and being carried and being carried through all the games and the changes that happen give it room to develop.

I think the best duo ever is Billy (Bimmy) and Jimmy Lee! Those double dragons were the best! Why? Well, because no matter how long ago they were streetfighting, they get resurrected every generation.

To add something to what I said above, since it's out of the contest anyway, it's not the three ending cinematics that I found most powerful and telling, but her rescue of Jim. Managing to make “the queen bitch of the universe” actually look vulnerable and perhaps more human in every good way than any of the characters that actually are completely human is quite an accomplishment... And good thing he couldn't hold to that "we're done".
Thank you for all your great entries! We will pick the winners soon :)

Bump. Who won?
Ha ha!! Good old GOG!

I'm having flashbacks of the Jailhouse Stock contest! They've been planning to announce the winners "soon" ..... for the last 6 years.

Wow. The contempt for your userbase here...it's becoming clearer and clearer.
They're probably overwhelmed by work™ or their chatbot has been put to the task and it's still learning™.

Are you seriously comparing a late GIVEAWAY to "contempt for (their) userbase"? I get it, it's annoying, but it's free stuff. It's not like we bought a game and didn't receive it.

First, this stuff isn't entirely free - some people (though not me) spent a good chunk of their time to come up with an interesting entry for the contest. And, as we know, time is money.

Second, contests like this aren't simply altruistic urges for GOG staff - they are a part of marketing, aimed at attracting and retaining users by promising them a chance to win a game. Small chance sure, but if the promise itself isn't delivered...

If you're not willing to spend that time with the high chance of not winning a reward from it, then that's on you (speaking collectively here).

They are good for marketing, yes, but how does it harm the individual if GOG takes their time with it? Don't get me wrong, I do think they need to stop doing this and announce the winners in a timely fashion but it really doesn't HARM any of the entrants in any way.
The Nameless One and Annah-of-the-Shadows, from Planescape Torment.
