I would say one of the most memorable soundtracks for me is the soundtrack from Hotline Miami. Hotline Miami is a game about reflexes and repetition. Playing a level over and over until you finally win. The rhythm of the music is a driving force that compels you to do just one more run. The music mirrors the flashing colors and frantic action transforming the violence on screen into part of the performance. Whenever I hear the soundtrack, I can see the levels play out before my eyes.
Always had a soft spot for the Quest for Glory 5 music. The fantastic orchestral roller coaster was truly immersive. It felt like you were really in the world space of the game. After you stopped playing, the music would make your imagination soar to the world you just played in. When you lay your head on your pillow to sleep, you would dream of fantastic worlds and the music from QFG5 would me playing in the back drop of your thoughts.

Truly great stuff =D
The most memorable soundtrack to me is probably the Halo CE soundtrack, i've known it since I was a little kid
Most memorable soundtrack is and always was OST from Might&Magic 7.
Not only it had the most memorable melodies in crystal clear quality of CD audio, it was also my first game that i could put into a CD player and listen to its atmosphere creating tunes even when i was not playing it.

(Very close second is Diablo 2 OST, thanks to the Tristram track. It is just perfect use of multiple acoustic guitars)

Any idea when the re-release is going to happen?
Just typing out this to say explicitly that I accept the prize and that I have provided my details (in the chat, within 24 hours of the announcement). Since it said you had to reply within a week, and the week has almost passed and I haven't gotten some kind of confirmation that it was seen...
Congratulations, you deserve it. DQ8 is a good choice. Allow me to bump up your post so people will know why you won. :)

Klagarn: For me it's Dragon Quest VIII (specifically the versions with live orchestra) without a question. The overworld music alone is a masterpiece, but the way it contains many styles of classical music in different contexts in a way that sounds authentic is awesome. It gives a feeling of not being inspired by movie/game soundtracks but by actual classical music. Baroque in a king's castle, romanticism travelling the sea, modernism at an evil altar. Listening through the soundtrack recordings outside the game, they were even performed by the orchestra as longer "suites" then cut up into the sections that loop within the game, making it feel like a classical concert. Within the game, those "section/version switches" instead occur along with gameplay, like as you hit tresholds in moving further into a dungeon.

One of my favourite examples of the style shifts is how the boss music starts out as just a more "epic" version of the jaunty normal battle music, but when you get to more serious fights and expect it to escalate further, it instead takes a 90 degree turn into slowly creeping and dissonance (and then THAT is what's dialled to 11 with bombast later). As if to show that this isn't just fighting a more mighty monster than normal, this is a fight against something truly evil and corrupted.
Update: Turns out to be no problems at all, I was impatient but everything's going according to plan :)
