Herzlich Willkommen!

GOG.com goes German. Not completely, mind you, but starting today we'll be spreading our DRM-free love in one more language. Whether you're here because of the news, or you've been with us for a while, here is what we're doing to make our German speaking friends feel a little more welcome on GOG.com:

-A German version of our website. You can change your language using the drop-down menu towards the bottom of every page.
-A German corner of our forums. Your home away from home.
-German customer support. If you're more comfortable talking to us in your native language.
-More games in German. We're rolling out 25+ German localisations for our games today, bringing the total up to 350+.

No big announcement would be complete without a huge sale! This weekend we're holding the German-riffic <span class="bold">Herzlich Willkommen!</span> promo. The highlight is a ridiculous 97% off Deponia, but there are over 25 other German gaming hits available as well. There is adventuring with the remaining Deponia games, the cult strategy of The Settlers, the tough and turn-based tactics in Blackguards 1 and 2, and many, many more feats of German game design.

Check out <span class="bold">the weekend promo page</span> to see the full lineup. The promo will last until Tuesday, March 3, at 4:59 AM GMT.

Update:
Two games from our catalog had to be made unavailable in Germany: Commandos Ammo Pack and Commandos 2+3. Offering or promoting these games is considered a serious criminal offence according to German law, and we have to abide by this law to avoid the risk of serious legal action taken against GOG.com and GOG.com employees. Rest assured that if you've already bought a game - nothing will retroactively disappear from your shelves.

Thought there were 3?
And wasn't it just as much of a crime until today?
Slippery slopes (after yesterday's HM2 mess) under "good news" again?
Then again, why am I asking, of course that's the GOG way as of a year ago.

Hey GOG, there is suddenly an empty space in the middle of my game shelf. I wonder what this means??

So basically the price to pay for having a German version of the site is to abide to Germany censorship rules.... not sure it was worth the price :( :(

Are you missing Fallout? Because that game just keeps on disappearing and reappearing on people`s accounts today.

Indeed, well atleast they didn't add the "GOOD NEWS:" tag this time. Apparently it isn't a crime unless you get caught and since the official German version of the site has been launched its easier to get noticed. All these so called big changes in an year since the original Good News almost a year ago has brought nothing but harmful consequences for GOG's loyal customers that came here because it was supposed to be different then the usual digital distribution stores out there.

Well, first I was happy for our german friends getting a german translation of the gog.com site.
But later I just found out that it wasn't a mere normal simple translation, it was a german locking/blocking of the gog.com site.

It was miles better in the first place with the site just in english, where all the gog catalogue was available worlwide.
Please undo this "translation" (read locking/blocking) bullshit and please no more "translations" (read locking/blocking) into whatever languages in the future, stick to english and worldwide. I think its safe to say that no customer needs translations if they come with regional bullshit.

Oh, and while you're at it, please remove the false advertising with "worldwide" since it's not the case anymore.

I was with you for a long time. Now you made me feel so sad: no more worldwide availability too after you've removed the usd only price. Only drm-free still stands ...

I'm dissapointed with you, gog.com
Szóval ennyi lenne a hétvégi akcíós ajánlat ?

Ragnarblackmane: Cool, where are Spanish, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, and Afroasiatic languages? :)

AnimalMother117: Or Sanskrit, or Korean, or Cherokee, or Dansk, or Afrikaans, or Ænglisc?
Make it Latin. :-)
Wikipedia has a Latin version after all, so why not?

Lesser: As far as I can see on http://www.schnittberichte.com/schnittbericht.php?ID=4652 for example, Commandos is region-locked for german (and austrian?) customers because of the symbols.
No need to drag Austrian users into this. Commandos and others aren't banned there due to the applicable laws being fundamentally different to Germany's.

I would prefer the site not to be german friendly with german version of the website, german corner in the forum and german customer support, if games have to be removed. (ie. Commandos series)

Why the simple fact of distributing those games is considered a CRIME?? That is RIDICULOUS

People, If You want the Commandos games DRMFREE, You can try with www.dotemu.com
I haven't read ze prior discussion (sry) but afaik being indexed is a fate commandos shares with more games on this site, like dark forces and mortal kombat. Double standard or are we expect so see more geof**** soon?

Bookmarked, thanks.
I'm looking for alternatives now, Shinyloot is the first one (just have to mind the DRM-free sticker).
